I usually do this with Nero (I use version 6) using the Nero Recode plug in. It loads the DVD up, lets you select where to go from and to, then converts that section to Mpeg4, then I use ImTOO video converter to change to a lower bitrate or filetype to reduce filesize etc for posting....
when i select the file i wish to convert using imTOO dvd converter, i explore the dvd but when i go into it there isnt a file that plays the whole length of the dvd, when i explore it its split up into 5 scenes of the dvd??
i can convert them into 5 mpeg files but thats no good as when i want to up load a clip il have to do the 5 files, can i join them so they play back to back?

Which is why I use Nero first, before the imToo converter.
DVD's are made up from a bunch fo VTS and VOB files (aswell as BUP's). YOu need a programme to read the video as a whole, then encode this to one single mpeg file. Nero Recode does this, and recodes the DVD to an MP4 file.
I use imTOO to then transcode from MP4 to WMV, or MPEG 1/2, etc for whatever reason I might need to.
