This is not meant offensivly. BUT its the control point of your entire PC. One wrong change and it could be game over.

However I will make a suggestion. Do a google for registry cleaners. That should remove all the toot from the Install.

Always make a backup though. Go to start>>Run>>Type Regedit and export the file.

Exporting wont remove. Simply create a backup of the working Registry

Think that programme does a backup(if you ask it to), but generally it wont delete things that will harm the workings of a pc

If photoshop's giving you jip, a simple uninstall, then restart of the computer, then reinstallation should do the trick

to enter the registry hit the start menu, select run then type regedit this will take you into the registry editor... which show you a working of the pc configuration. The registry editor has a search facility which you can use to look for specific registry keys such as photoshop's however there will be a large number of these.
As correctly stated messing up the registry can stop your PC from working.

Registry cleaners will not help you in this situation simply because the key is neither unrequired or damaged which means to remove it you have to do it by hand

What version of photoshop you got ?
If its the same as mine ill show you exactly where to look

Fuck with the registry at your own risk - and it is a true risk.

Whilst I am no super-geek when it comes to PC's I am fairly confident and posess a pretty good array of knowledge on them when it comes to solving problems. I read a lot about something before I do it and gather as much intel as I can before doing something...

When I had a major virus buttfucking my system a year or so ago, I spent a long time sorting the registry out, modifying and removing, entry by entry, and all was going fine. Then one ill-descision later, my registry was fucked and it was re-installation time

If you export your entire registry I will gladly tell you where the exact information is that you need to edit and tell you how to do it.

Doing a cambelt concerns me more personally than editing the registry

msconfig and regedit hard to work unless you know what your doing

below is a more information config program....

http://www.ccleaner.com/

it will ask you to make a back up copy first do it ...

and save it in your docs folder so you dont lose it .....

any problems after that just click on the blue cubes folder

old reg keys and programs are reinstalled

easy as pie
