reading that rule,i was within the rules!im NOT using the forum to break ANY copyrights,i have merely formatted my hard drive and as such require assistance in getting new ones, they came with the pc when i bought it 2nd hand so i dont have the driver disks!i didnt ask for shonky copies, just wether i could get some drivers for free from somewhere. delete away if it makes you feel good but im within that rule.

you have a pm ....

and yes running auto updates should help load the correct drivers..
or goto control panel ... system ... hardware ... device manager ... any problems will be highlighted... you can then update drivers on video cards etc etc ...

difficult if its not a "branded" pc like hp/compaq or the like, as most manufacturers offer excellent after sales support, and you merely have to put the model number in and all related drivers will show.

if not, you need to look at the actual cards inside the machine, get model numbers etc and do google searches.

some of them can be FUN i can tell you

happy hunting.

Best of luck with this m8, after reinstalling xp, you willprobably find that most of the stuff won't work. As Stu say's, you may have to actually take the side of the case off and look for model numbers of the componants

I think ( and I could be wrong here) but if you go to START > RUN > and type in DXDIAG it will open a window thats gives you virtually ALL the info on what is inside your PC. You should be able to find out what graphics and sound cards you have, what model and who they are made by. Then you can go to the manufacturers websites, and most manufacturers have drivers you can freely download

And to top it all off, it's legal
