Default Screen on standby

When using my computer normally just randomly the screen goes on standby and i cant do anything. If restart it it works fine until it does it again, what could be up with it? Could it be virus or hardware?

Check all powermanagement settings, I set all my screensavers to off, and don't allow it to turn off the monitor. Try that first

Its not the settings cause its when your working on the computer. About a month ago when i turned it on the screen just stayed on standby. I Took the graphics card out to my friends and he tested it and was working fine. Put it back in and the computer was ok until now

So you have tried the gfx card in another machine and it was fine. Tried a different monitor on your machine? Or your monitor on another machine?

Sounds like a compatability issue then with your screen and your machine then. This does happen as my bro bought a TFT for his PC, and it simply would not work on his PC. Just showed a scrambled image all the time. Plugged it into my machine and it was fine! Also on my family machine, worked a treat. My TFT worked spot on with his machine so it was simply a compatability issue....

Tried a different monitor with your machine?

Its a dell monitor with a dell computer. It was bought like that from dell and has been fine for two years.

I can swap monitors with a friend maybe. Its only happened twice in a week so its not that often which is more annoying to figure out whats wrong with it.
