Puts me off selling a car on ebay . But as previously stated IMO the only thing putting people off this car is your advert. You say it was Cat C in 1996 the same year as you bought it, and you used to work for a Ford Bodyshop and Jigged loads of cars, but you know nothing of the damage the car sustained?? I think if you took more photos, boot floor, underside, inner wings etc etc etc to show any repairs etc this car would sell no problem what so ever. Its a good late plate 4x4, good mileage, low owners, nice interior. It should fly out the door at £4000, the only thing stopping it selling IMO is your advert sounds suspicious! seen some shit boxes Sell for near that money, and yours looks quite clean other than the n/s/r arch

+1 to the above.
justifying the cat C with "it could have been a scratch, a cat D could have had every panel kicked in" doesnt help either.
as what your saying is it could have been totally smashed in or just keyed, take the gamble... its sounds dodgy. tell us, you should have found out yourself before you bought the car.
this car was £21,000 new so when this car was four years old it was probably worth £10,000? (just a guess as its an easy number to work with) given inflation since 1996, that was roughly £15,000 so thats potentially, a pretty big write off.
pictures would help mate.

i think its fair to say what its true value is now, its been on ebay 4 times? and never got beyond £4k
i would take the average of the 4 sale prices and advertise it for that, it would certainly save you some money on listing & reserve fees!
my opinion is to keep it, sort the arches and enjoy it

just to let you know a CAT C is worse than a CAT D.
Category A: Scrap only – The vehicle has not been repaired following extreme damage. It was deemed too damaged to be repairable with little or no salvageable parts.
Category B: The bodyshell should have been crushed. The vehicle has not been repaired following significant damage. It was deemed too damaged to be repairable however did have salvageable parts.
Category C: This vehicle was repairable, but the repair costs exceeded the vehicle value. The insurer chose not to repair for economic reasons.
Category D: This vehicle was repairable, but the repair costs were significant compared to the vehicle value. The insurer chose not to repair for economic reasons.

sorry but ive got to comment on this car,its now been for sale everywhere and still hasnt sold, what does that tell you ??
the simple answer is "its not worth the asking price" which isnt a surprize to some that actually known the true value of these cars.
you can hawk it around for ever but it will never sell for the asking price.
when a car has been around as long as this it will never sell.
as i see it you have two option, this is coming from a guy who probably boght sold and broke more cosworth than anyone on this site
1.take the best offer you have been given
2.repair the car to a standard thats its road worthy and sellable, but to do it properly will cost by the look of the car £1500 plus
ask yourself is it worth it as its been written off so it will never make good money and have no more value than what your asking no matter how much you spend on it
sorry but it has to be said.
