Default 1972 Mk1 3l Capri GT - Fully Restored - £5500

1972 Mk1 Ford Capri - GT Replica...but better

Hello and welcome to the sale of my Mk1 Capri. I bought her last year at the end of summer wanting a winter project to keep my mind busy through the cold nights.

Currently on ebay with all resto pics:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2210175563...t_26877wt_1395

Since then I have carried out a full restoration with pictures of each time I felt I hit a “milestone” these are all found below!

Below is a summary of the cars specification.

Shell:

1972 Capri mk1 1.6 XL, 9 previous owners last on the road 2002 (According to old Tax disc in car) I have no History or paperwork but I do have the Full V5 in my name. Also nice to note that she is Tax Exempt and is now taxed until the end of March 2013.

After stripping the car down to a bare shell I renewed the following:

2x New rear arches

2x New RS3100 Front Wings (Fibreglass)

2x New Floor Sections (Front half only)

2x New sills

The Front inner wings, front valance, chassis rails and rear floor/boot section are all original and in very good condition.

The car has had a complete re-spray in original Tawny Gold which in my opinion really suits the car. The black bonnet was my choice and I genuinely feel it looks better than if it was to be Tawny.

Engine & Gearbox:

Stripped down, checked and re-built 3L Essex with steel timing Gear (Pics to prove) and VF31 Fast Road Cam originally from “specialised engines”. I also have pictures of the engine with heads off including bores. Competition spec 4 core Radiator with single electric cosworth fan. Brand new points and condenser. All cylinders have good compression. Carb has had a manual choke conversion, fires up and ticks over without fault. Tubular manifolds and big bore exhaust system with skid plates - sounds fantastic.

Axle & Gearbox

Capri 2.8i Injection 5 speed Gearbox and Atlas Axle, freshly painted with overhauled rear brakes and all new copper brake lines.

Suspension:

Complete 2.8 Injection Front Bilstein suspension and brakes, Brand new TCA’s and Track rod ends. All new Copper brake lines and Goodridge Flexi’s, Brand new discs and Pads with re-furbished callipers. 2.8 rear Dampers and polybushed 2.8i rear ARB

Interior

Inside the car has original Tan interior with Brand new black carpet. Currently the front seats do not match and I believe them to be from a mk3 Laser or “S” but the seats are booked in to be re-trimmed to match the existing. Door cards are all complete but are a little scruffy around the edges, The rear seats are as new and probably never been sat in, the roof lining is excellent. Original dashboard does have a couple of cracks but temperature and fuel guage work great. Previous owners have fitted a rev counter which works great too. Currently speedo isn’t working but im hunting down a correct size e-clip so im hoping this will sort it.

The car has a brand new MOT and will come with 12 months Tax (Free of charge thanks to being Tax exempt)

Although I would love to run the car for a while come summer I never had any intention of doing so, just to see the before and after pictures puts a big smile on my face. Having being bitten with the “building” bug I am looking for my next project. I am not out to make money with the car and feel the start bid reflects this.

Please feel free to cantact me on any more information you require. I would strongly urge potential buyers to come and view the car, fire her up and have a go, you will not be disappointed!

Open to P/x, swaps including project cars!

£5500

2700+ views on ebay, if each pics 1meg, and you have about 50 pics, wont take long to do the 10gig
