i doubt at 11k, hes getting anywhere near breaking even on the cost of parts and labour involved in building this! lets face it, there arent exactly an abundance of mk3 escorts converted to cosworth and built to this quality, so nothing to compare it to in price terms.

personally i wud say keep it, even if u just store it for the short term until u get the love back for it. but i know what u mean beefy, i hate working on my car, and always say i want to sell it. i almost want sum1 to just finish it, and then i can love it complete, but in bits it just seems like a chore rather than fun

fingers crossed u see sense, but if not, some1 will be getting a lovely built shell at, in my own opinion of course, a very reasonable price

Beefy, i've done barely a thing on mine for the last 5 years having bought a house and our daughter is now 4. But I know if I was at the stage you are now, how much I would regret selling it in the future.

I'm not saying you dont have good reason to sell, but fast forward 3-4 years you'll have serious regrets mate.

i sold mine & was further then this with it, personally i havnt regretted it.

you have to either have:::

shit loads of spare money/or stupidly paid job to want/own a car of this value/age etc....
or
such a passion for old fords that your will never have a girfriend, house or anything of any vaule

i sold up, brought a 4k saff 2wd 340bhp, i can use it everyday without worring if it'll get scratched/dented etc..... still puts a massive smile on my face & beats allot of cars on the road

also its easier/cheaper to insure then somthing like this

imo this mk3 can never be used daily, its more of a show pony so yourll never turely enjoy it

for me i dont want a show car that sits in the garage while i drive something shite like a focus everyday.

all depends what u want & what you can afford mate................

Can't believe our selling this beef

I sold off my project xr2 when I moved house and had nowhere to keep it and I kick myself for it now. But at the end of the day it's your decision bud.

If I had 11k I would break you're arm and out it in my garden lol

Your mad! I felt the same way with my ST Turbo project a month or so ago. Get a couple of weeks off work and in the garage and the love will soon come back! After all the stress etc, at least finish it before selling it - you may get less cash but you can look back in years to come and say you actually did it

Beefy you need a reality check, you and the guys have put so much time and effort into the car, get if finished and be the owner of one of the best mk3 escorts around, if you must sell, do it when its finished. selling it now would be a big shame. dont make this be another failed project car

take a break from it for a while. come back in a few weeks and hit it hard and finish it.

on the other hand if you really NEED to sell, good luck with it.

Lack of enthusiasm?! Judging by all of your updates on the car you always appear to be buzzing and full of excitement!! I don't come on here often to post, I don't build my own project cars and I am also about to buy a skoda so am probably not the best person to comment, but, PLEASE don't give up with this car!! After following your thread you have come so far with the car that it would be crazy to give up now. Put a nice warm blanket over her, tuck her up for a month or two, enjoy the summer with the missus and your little one then come out to play with it after. Only my two pence worth, but more importantly it gives me a fantastically technical read every few days!!

I have followed your thread from the beginning and is the first thing I look at every evening to see your progress, whenever I have had a loss of enthusiasm I read your thread again and im sure plenty of other members have done the same so I was stunned to see your car for sale. You are a larger than life character and probably the most known and respected person on pf and im sure there are lots of projects being done on the strength of your thread. Dont let yourself and k down finish the car and take your 15 minutes of fame when the car wins trophies and magazine features, you both deserve it for the effort and love you have put in so far. Any way if you dont carry on ill have nothing to read every night.

if its not financial - i would just store it away and come back to it in a year or two down the line. Dont spend any money on it in the time its laid up and come back to it with a fresh mind.

Ive put my 3dr away for a year or two until i can get it done how i want

i dont think anyone would say anything about the money side.

but you kind of do have a point, a lot of people have rallied round and put a lot of effort in because of who beefy is, its not the money, but they may be a bit disappointed and let down that their thier work for beefy is going to waste

I think you should store it away if it's not financial reasons for you selling it,

It's an awesome shell with some nice parts and touches but your never gonna get 11k for it as it currently stands, there's just not enough there regardless of the on paper costs,

Keep it, enjoy some time away with the baby and wifey and come back to it later when you get a but of enthusiasm back, it would be a shame for it not to be finished after all the hard work everyone has put in so far

You know it makes sense

Beefy I wouldn't normally post on these types of threads, as in the end its up to you what you do, but get yourselve to ford fair with the lads and enjoy a break from away from the car, as the amount of effort and money you have put into this recently is huge and its not surprising your burnt out when it comes to the car, but beware you sell it before taking a break from it at the next show afterward I think you might get a cheeky slap of me

Beef

you have hit the 70% wall

It happens to almost everyone who ever builds a car , you seem to be 70% there and then for no reason what so ever you just simply lose the plot and give up

I did with my Caltex car , I covered it over and left it for a few months then collected a few more parts and then as quick as i lost intrest it came back and i finished it

You see so many car builds for sale at the " shell all painted " stage and it always amazed me as all the hard work is done and i wondered why after all that work people just gave up , Now i understand as ive been there

Walk away for a few weeks , spend time with the Family and after a few weeks of them getting on your nerves ( lol ) you will be back at it

Paul

appriceate the comments folks

spoke it over with anne marie and k , at this point its no longer for sale ,

the 1 offer i did get of 9.5 k just didnt justify selling the thing for that ,

as ive said its not the financial side , as the whole car stands it dosent owe anyone a single penny ......

off to ford fair with cutch, at the weekend , see if i can regain my excitement for the lump of shiny metal !!

will keep an eye on it

Good to hear your keeping it but a offer of 9.5k was IMO a very good offer.

Its going to be ( and already has been ) a extremely expensive car to finish to a good standard, if you can afford to throw that sort of money around then get it done or this will only end up being back up for sale in a few months or a year.

Like others, been there done it, failing that sell it and buy something nearly ready to go that you can put your own name on

Good to hear beef mate you will love it when its finished,i understand where you are coming from mate hard to see the finish and plus for me with family like yourself its hard sometimes to get the time needed to keep at it this for me makes the loss of interest from time to time, but it does come back plus like yourself i have a very good partner.

what was the point in this thread? imo you had no intention of selling it were u just wanting people to tell you its great and not to sell?

ive followed the full build thread and its a work of art and really hope you finish it whether its this year or 5 years down the line!

your pal karl seems like a top guy and has done 90% of the build and i would be pissed if i was him if you were thinking of selling at this stage! surely now it only gets better as you can start bolting bits on and it will start looking like a car?

anyway good luck with the future build it will be a top car when finished and you will wonder why u ever considered selling.
