well said i was offered £4200 at ford fair and turned that down its a proper mint example ive only used new genuine ford parts to build this car which took me 2 years to find the only reason im selling it is because it doesnt get used and its a shame to leave it stood i could put it back to a xr3i and still get £2500 for it and sell all the turbo bits but it would be a shame to do that

Theres no denying its a superb car....
However, maybe the price mark of £4500,then £4200, is the thing that is putting people off.
Bargains tends to be snapped up instantly, so is this pointing to the general opinion of people, as its still too dear???? Why hasnt it sold yet???? Do people not like cabriolets, or is it the price????!!!
Ive seen that the seller has done alot of advertising on various sites and ......Its still for sale after a good few months...
Im in the process of doing a resto on my FRST which will owe me over £3k in the end, not inc the car, which cost me 6K. Would anyone buy it from me for say £9k??? No....id struggle selling it for £4.5k!!!!
I think, it doesnt matter how nice or mint a seller believes his car to be....its if the car sells, which determines if the car was worth the asking price!!!!!!!
Good luck tho, its got the summer vibes just around the corner which could help the sale!!!

Fair point on the price. But if no one can afford a decent car that doesn't mean its not worth the money, just that no one has enough spare to justify spending it.
Mine will be in similar condition when rebuilt but with slightly different mods, and I don't think I'll be selling it. It'll owe me over 4k including cost of car (which was bargain at 400). But I wouldn't be selling cheap just cause no one has any money.
If I do decide to sell I'll wait til economy recovers then I'll sell for what it's worth. I advise the same to anyone thinking of selling/breaking. The cars are getting rarer and therefore worth more in good condition. Look at S1 turbos!

If a car is worth £4000+ and people agree with it and if they want it they will buy it. The problem nowadays is that people want something for nothing! I am all for a good bargain and the better the bargain the happier it makes us, but don't sell yourself short on anything unless a cash situation means that you have to and there is no other way.
I have an RS cabriolet and tried to sell it on Ebay (mostly) before and over Christmas. Baring in mind its not mint and needs a few little bits doing (with parts to go with car) there wasn't much happening. £1,100 it was up for with a best offer and I got 4 offers on the car (baring in mind I said I would go no lower than £1,000 with it all included) 3 offers of £700 and measly offer of £350 to which I replied dream on! lol.
So I am now in the process of saving up and getting the work done and spring time I will re-advertise it for around £1,750 so I would make more money on it to spend on my other car
If your not desperate to sell the car then hang on to it, the better weather is coming and you never know who's round the corner

A car in that condition is rare, which makes a buyer even rarer. Hang on to it, I don't think it's a lot of cash it might be just what someone is looking for come summer time.

i know someone who had one last year that was fully converted from a 1.6i g plate mk4 escort cab into a rs turbo cab and it was original panels with ford stamps hpi clear with tons and tons of history old and new and a big pile of mot's too and loads of xtras like koni's, mint recaros that matched the rest of the std interior,a top of the range new alarm exhaust, dump valve, kent cam, turbosystems chip, silicone hoses, etc etc and that car sold on ebay at under 2 grand and you couldn't build it for that. they are unfortunately mostly dickheads cars as thats what my mate mainly had pestering him. he was glad to get rid and at 1600 to the 1st normal person interested who came saw and drove it away.
Best of luck getting your price and thats being genuine but these cars do tend to attract mainly the idiots and most of them are skint messers
