Default 2000 EK9 Civic Type RX

Ok, unfortunately, I'm now needing a car to commute in, which means the Civic will have to go to free up some money. I dont mind doing a px with something special, but there must be cash on top so that I can buy something sensible to punt to work and back in.

This car isn't like a stock EK9 to drive, which have occasionally been criticised for their long gearing, with the MFactory Gearkit the car has a long 1st gear, c55mph, then goes quickly through 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear, then a longer 5th gear to aid cruising slightly. The gearkit and Quaife LSD both come with a full warranty on them should you have a problem, however, there are mega powered turbo'd drag Hondas using these bits without any hassle so I doubt their working at even 50% of their capacity, which gives a fair amount of peace of mind for any potential buyer.

The standard power output for these is 185bhp @ Flywheel and with the above mods, my car is making 211bhp @ Wheels..

There are pictures from different angles and a video of the performance on this link: Click Here

Price:

Its difficult to price something like this, as I suppose it is pricing big power EVOs etc... obviously you'll never get back the money spent on modifications, for instance, original purchase price was £9500, the MFactory/Quaife Gearbox has a receipt for £4800, there is a bill for just bolting all the bits of the engine together for £2800 (no uprated bits included), etc etc... which is why people tend to break high spec cars like this rather than sell complete, I really don't want to go down that route though.

Using Pistonheads as a reasonably reliable indicator, looking at EK9 Type R that are listed/sold, the price for a facelift EK9 (with c70k miles) with minimal mods is around £7,000 privately, so for this car, with the mileage, condition, modifications, plus knowing what I paid for it... ...I wouldn't think it was out of this world to ask £8,000, and like I said above, I'm willing to do a deal on something else so let me know what you've got.

I can reduce the price by removing parts like the Carbon Bonnet, Carbon Boot, Coilovers etc... however, the mechanical specification will be staying as it is because thats what really makes this car IMO.

Cheers,
Grant

Yea its not been around for long... I bought it when I was in the running for 4 jobs, three came with company car and one came without anything. Obviously, using the law of averages, I was confident that one of the company car jobs would come off.

Typically though, I got the one with sod all, so gotta get a derv runabout to punt to work and back which requires the Civic to go and free up a few quid for that.

Cheers,
Grant

This car is really well known north of the border and a lot of people will vouch for the attention to detail and expense thats gone into the specification, the condition of the car and the performance that it offers. Hopefully that'll go some way to put a potential buyer at ease before travelling hundreds of miles to see it (since most of the interest I've had is from England).

The link to the thread on the Owners Club is here: http://www.ek9.org/forum/cars-sale/1...mega-spec.html

I am open to offers around £8000 on the car now (please dont take the p!ss though!!), remember there are bills for over £20,000 that come with this car, the gearbox alone was around £4500-£5000 from memory?!

However, the car is sitting in the garage looking bored (lol) and ideally I'd like the car away before the run up to Christmas.

Cheers,
Grant

Haha, very true Kevman, I have always fancied a Cossie... whether this is the time I bite the bullet or not we'll have to wait and see, however, I'm pretty keen to get a decent Golf GT TDi to punt around in for the next few months until the better weather comes along.

Cheers,
Grant
