1986 Ford Escort XR3i in Rosso Red
Its time for my XR3i to move on. My track car will be back soon and I have a mk1 fiesta on the way, so I need to clear the space in the garage.
The car in question.
Registered on 1st August 1986. Im the 5th owner. The previous owner had the car for 8 months before I bought it.
It has 47k on the clocks. There is no history to back this up unfortunatley, I was only given one previous MOT along with the current MOT. This looks to be genuine mileage, the interior and the bodywork dont say otherwise.
The car has had the Ziebart rust proofing treatment which has helped to keep the chassis solid. I can't spot any welding anywhere, this is a really solid chassis.
There are 2 spots of rust, one on either rear wheel arch, which will be a pretty easy fix.
There is a reciept for the following work in October 2008:
Brake discs
Fuel filter
Spark plugs
Rocker cover gasket
Timing belt
Water pump
Auxillary belt
Air filter
Starter motor
Oil filter
Since I have owned it I have put new rear wheel bearings and a new fuel pump relay (brand new from Ford), along with 2 new Avon front tyres.
It is factory spec apart from a set of lowering springs.
The tax runs out at the end of September and the MOT expires 30th October.
I used the car as a daily driver when I first got it in April and I never had a problem with it once the fuel pump relay was replaced. It has been a really reliable car, not a sniff of a problem with it even once I bought a new daily driver and have only used it occasionally. The engine runs amazingly quietly for a CVH, its a peach of an engine, pulls really well and I even used to get about 35mpg on the commute to work and back.
I will sort out some more pictures once I find the camera battery charger.
The car is located near Kettering, Northants.
The price is £1400.
