Arrow 1983 RS1600i in Black - SOLD SOLD SOLD

Reduced PRICE now £2000, its a give away!!!!

Car will be featured in Fast Ford mag in the next month, so grab your self a bargin now, before it too late.

For more pictures please search my resto threads theres litterally 1000's of pics!!

1983 Ford Escord Rs1600i in black
Build code 'DS' one of the last made with the later style single bolt front struts.
FULLY HPI CLEAR
Car was lovingly restored the beggining half of this year (2009) and completed in may. On final testings and its first road run, due to a combining failure of the metering unit overfueling and a sticking fuel relay the result was an engine fire. My restoration threads on the car have had over 40,000 hits so im assuming if your in the market for this car then you probably already know a fair bit about the work which has gone in to the car.
The last 3 months I have spent once again returning the car back to original condition. It was a big step to make as im sure many people would have given up then. Ive come to a point now where the car is 95% finished, but I simply do not have the time or the space to complete the car, and if im honest have lost the passion I once had for this RS.
The car is basically complete and running , but please be wear it is sold as a project.

Parts which are missing:
  1. Front spot lights
  2. Air auxiliary valve
  3. Rear towing eye
  4. Air filter element
  5. Speakers
  6. Red Fuel pipe from bulkhead to fuel filter and fuel filter to metering unit need replacing
There are obviously a few smaller bits like rubber gromets, clips but nothing substaintial worth listing. That really is all that missing from the car being 100% complete.

Work required for MOT:
  1. Engine needs to be set up, ie vacum pipes correctly connected and air aux valve fitted, idle speed and fuel mixture correctly set
  2. New rubber seal for dip stick tube, at the moment it leaks badly when engine is run
  3. Brakes and Brake Pressure Regualting Valve need bleeding
  4. Window washer pump needs wireing up
  5. Interior/dash components such as dash clocks need to be fitted/pluged in as everything is still loose incase acces is still need to loom.
  6. Steering wheel nut needs to be torqued up
That really is it, This car is so close to being back on the road.

Other work equired:
  1. Headlining needs fitting (It is from my old S1 Rs Turbo, has a very small tear under where the visor sits, so not noticable)
  2. As above Dash components/fittings etc all need fixing down and pluging in
  3. Tidy up loom. The car recieved a new 16i loom and I had it sent away for 3 weeks at an auto electrictians, as it was far more cost effective this way. He has got all the lights working perfectly for MOT and also spent a good amount of time testing the ECU and twin coils and also installing a proper new fuel relay circuit which is safe and relaible (due to last time lol.)
  4. All lights work, horn works, wipers work, dash clock work. The looms for the front fogs and spots need fitting, and the looms for the centeral locking and electric windows also need fitting. In the boot of the car there is still the original 16i loom and also a complete XR3i loom. so all bits are present for this.
  5. Stereo needs wiring up, and speakers
  6. Loom in engine bay needs clipping back with ties to make it tidy
  7. Drivers upper half of seat has wear on piping, this could easily be repaired with a bit of patience. Also I will throw in a spare front seat so you could always use that and make one good seat from the two
  8. Front fogs need pluging in and front spots need sourcing and fitting/pluging in (spot brackets are on car and in VVVG condition)
  9. Drivers door window rubber trim/scraper is perished, still fully functional but does not look to nice (just need to remove door mirror to fit new item)
So there we have it, an easy project for some one who has a few weekends spare to tinker and enjoy working on the car.
Car Build Spec:
Interior:
1/4" foam/rubber underlay for comfort and sound deadening
MINT condition Rs 4 spoke steering wheel
Original radio
Full sticker set, including "built in germany" "reassembled in england" "our cars have racing in their blood" "ford rallye motosport" Showroom interior mirror card with gear shift pattern, set of Dunllop D4 wheel stickers. There are 2 complete sets of all these original fittment unique to the RS1600i only.

Engine:
  1. Head skimmed and 24hr pressure tested
  2. New genuine ford valves
  3. Valve seats modified with 3 multi valve angles for more power and better heat dissipation. Extra peace of mind and to allow safe running of unleaded fuel
  4. Inlet and exhaust ports polished
  5. (there is a recipt included to show all this work, and many pictures also)
  6. Rst Felpro head gasket
  7. Rst engine gasket kit
  8. Steam seals
  9. Thermostat
  10. Tensioner genuine ford
  11. Sparks NGK
  12. Kent CHV26 racing/rally cam
  13. Kent mechanical racing lifters (unique to RS1600i)
  14. Water pump genuine ford
  15. Fuel filter
  16. Piper airfilter
  17. Bosch Fuel pump
  18. New fuel banjo washers
  19. Non stretch head bolts
  20. Cam oil seal
  21. Aux belt
  22. Reconditioned starter motor
  23. Injector rubbers and gromits
  24. Gates Cam belt
  25. Recon flywheel with magnetic tooth for twin coils
  26. Throttle cable genuine ford
  27. Clutch cable genuine ford (used but VVG condition)
  28. Genuine ford mk3 only (very rare) new old stock upper engine mount
  29. Brake resivoir seals
  30. Mastercylinder reconditioned
Well over £1200 worth of parts here!!!

Suspension and running gear:

  1. New CV inner and outer boots
  2. New sterring rack boots
  3. New Suspension bushes ie TCA, Strut tops, Rear tie bar. etc
  4. Koni Fully Adjustable suspension stock height (these are original fitment from factory so not to be seen as a modification for insurance purposes, only difference is the shocks have gas rather than oil)
  5. New ball joints
  6. Brand new hard wear, wheel cylinders and shoes on rear brake drums
  7. New hard wear, ventalated disks and pads up front
Bodywork:

Brand new Sekurit bronze tinted windscreen with specail hard to find top tint
New wiper blades
Welding work commisioned buy previous owner and list of pannels replaced -

  • New Cills both sides
wing mounts both sides
battery tray
rear chassis rails both sides
front lower floor pan both sides
front scuttle/apron
front wings both sides
front foot wells both sides
rear foot wells both sides
Underside : Fully protected with Ford 'code A' black paint and then througherly waxoiled. safe for another 25 years!
Visual Bodywork: The car is in what id call in good average condition. I made the decision at the start of the restoration that I would not respray the car as I didnt feel it warrented one. And also I feel this way you can use the car with out feeling guilty everytime you take it out and risk getting a stone chip or scratch.
The paint work polishes up nicley and looks lovley in the sunshine. My view point was I would rather spend the money first on the mechanicals.
The engine bay/front panel were fully stripped and repainted a few months back. so If you really wanted you could do a top quality "mask up" respray id say for around £800 at a bodyshop to bring the car to "show" standard.

To Summarize:

RS1600i 95% completed restoration.
Car is running and will drive, but it not road legal and will need to be trailered
Auction ends on Saturday 29 Aug, 2009 @ 13:09:58 (1:09pm)
I am away on business from the 1st Sep till late afternoon on the 8th. The 1st is a Tuesday, so if you are winning bidder the car will either have to be picked up sunday30Aug or monday31st Aug (any time is ok) or when im back from the 8th September onwards. So please be aware of this!!!
The sale is strictly Cash on Collection only please and if you are not picking the car up on 30/31 Aug, I would like a paypal deposit of £100 please.
Bidders with "poor" history please contact before placing a bid as I may choose to remove it.
Viewing is more than welcome, and if you would like more pictures then please ask.
I have set what I feel is a realistic and very fair price on the car. It owes me the best part of £5000, so some one is going to get a good deal here.
Sorry for the essay.lol. Just trying to give as clear and accurate description of the car as possible.
Kind Regards

No had a cock up with ebay, I set and paid for a reserve, but it never came up on the auction.

The winning bidder knew my reserve was £2k, but he decided not to bid up to it. So the car is not sold, (although ebay still want final sale fees )

Car will be in fast ford mag as a full feature in the next month of so

D'oh, they are good but not mirical workers. The photo shoot was only 2 weeks ago. They still have to sort out the article and edit it all over the place. Then find a slot for it, as they are busy covering the shows at the mo.

Gona be at least a month.

Main reason for selling is to reduce the number of cars. The wifes got a daily driver so there is no use for an mg. sorry mate.

I simply cant believe this hasnt gone. Im basically giving it away.

I didnt think the economy was that bad, but obviously £2k is too much for most people? If I break the car, think I can sell it this way. people can just buy the bits they want then.

Still finding it hard to come to terms with how much money ive spent on her

Yes i understand that. Its more a case of not having ANY time, and more importantly now not having any decent storage space for it.

It may put people off, but christ im asking peanuts for the car. Anyone who remotly knows anything abuot mk3's and 16i will know just how much car they are getting for their money here!!!

If it doesnt sell in the next month I may well get time to get an MOt and finish off the other little bits, But then she will still be for sale. but at £4000!!!!!

well done Lee. you win some, you lose some, but you did an awesome job on this car.

In hinedsite I should have stripped it and sold the shell.

Its an Rsi and HPI clear, with no rust or welding required. I had an offer the other day for £1000 just for the shell.

Anyway its gone to a good home, hes got some big plans for her. All I will say is you can expect to see a rebuilt Rsi engine will full twincoil set up on ebay soon .

Was weird seeing it drive off last night. Has been such a rollercoastrer, was chuffed to see it go but at the same time was like the end of an era.

Good news is I have some space back and can get cracking on with my beetle again

Wonder why he didnt buy something else then! Dont see the point of having an RSi without coils etc and thats what they are!
