Default Mk 5 Orion 1.4LX

Right guys, my dad has decided to sell his car but this is a real odd one so would welcome some sensible input.

Car is a '91 on a J and my dad has owned the car from new. Done less than 30k miles and all he ever does it polish it. The car is absolutely A1 mint. Not a mark. Engine wise the car is exactly as Uncle Henry intended so quick it ain't but he's done alot cosmetically to it. Runs on standard Ghia rims (he wouldn't change them as my mum bought them for him - no I don't understand either !) has a full leather trim, handmade stainless exhaust, colour coded blah blah blah. No, we all know that a 17 year old Orion in normal circumstances is worth £500 if it has a years ticket and 6 months rent, but this isn't a 'normal' car - not by any stretch.

He's asked me to see what it's worth and TBH I have no idea. It's like anything I s'pose, it's worth what anyone is prepared to pay and for someone in a Orion club (is there such a thing ?) this would be the prized possession but in the open market......I don't know.

What you guys think ? Sensible opinions only please or I'll just get the thread deleted.

Thanks.

I would say £1000 to £1500.

A mint car with those sort of miles has to be worth that at least!!

i think people would need to see the to appreciate the 'mintness'
pricing it is so hard, its needs a hardcore Orion fan to buy this, this car is ready to 'showed' if someone wanted it for that kind of thing

Cheers Matt he says the car is too heavy for him to drive now, he's used to PAS, air-con etc and you know the only reason he's kept it so he'll have to get used to sitting there getting an earful instead of disappearing with a polishing rag in his hand !!!!

As Matt says, this is ready to be showed and he'e seen the car so there's an indepdent witness for you. I will try and get some pics but it'll have a to be a dry day or he won't let it out the garage (always wondered where I got that from.... )

My dad wouldn't let the car go for that mate - he'd rather it sat in the garage for the next 20 years, believe me.
