on an L plate it will be the 3.0 with 5 speed box.

The 3.0 is a far better car than the later evo version.

More reliable and generally faster in the real world than the 3.2

ive owned both and would agree that the early one is the better car . most bmw forums will also agree. i raced my mates evo when i had the yellow non evo and its close but my earlier one pulled away .

Yay, BMW talk, Evo is quicker, 3.0l gears just pull through longer but overall the evo will win a race.
3.ol is more reliable as the Evo vanos issues can be dear and troublesome!
BMW figuers were 296bhp and and 321bhp, Owners found out quite quickly they were 286bhp and 302bhp (roughly).
Rant over, nice car - lol

I got a 3.0 e36 M3, never raced a evo but can tell you all that its 286bhp, reliable, nice to drive, sounds A1, and still cuts it these days with the big boys.

I have my 5 door which I am thinking of parting in for a Cosworth (Escort) but its such a nice reliable car (that keeps the rust at bay) not sure I want to go down the route of non reliable older rust prone car... Had that with my old S2

Evos are 321 bhp and these are 295 i think 0 to 60 though is only 1/2 sec less than an evo. Went went like fook best cat i ever had good mpg. but now have company car so back in a 3 door coz miss the bimmer though. Nice rear spoiler too. Best of luck with the sale.

Spot on i had a m3 3000litre and it pissed on my mates evo.

I had it tuned and looked after by a independant bmw specialist who said the same thing that they are better even the big power difference they are only on paperwork half a second slower 0/60 and average 28/30 to gallon.

Ebay is the future they go well on there!!!!!!

Sounds like a lot of car for that money, even if it is high mileage.

I offered £3200 aswell beginning of the week, all its worth with that mileage and the rust on it in MY opinion but yes will be a great car for someone for the money.
