FOR SALE: MY 1993 Sapphire Cosworth (SOLD)
#1
FOR SALE: MY 1993 Sapphire Cosworth (SOLD)
The Sob Story:
This car is my own personal daily transport and i have had her a few years now after buying her as a virtually standard car from a customer whom i had just built a fresh engine for when he decided he wanted to sell it and buy an escos instead.
The main reason i bought this car was to develop the closed loop fuelling system for it that i had in my head at the time, many of you will know that the project was a total success and is now our main conversion for cosworth YB management.
I modded the car suitably to take the power of various conversions i tested on her, and the brakes and torsional issues etc too as she was a bit lacking around the Nurburgring when we took her. My intention was then to sell her when i got back, but then i got involved in the new wasted spark conversions, so really needed to keep her so i could develop and test that further too without needing to use customers cars. That project as most of you will know is also a success with WS systems on teh shelf at all times now... So, the time has come. I dont see us doing any further Cosworth development of NEW items, so i dont need her as a testbed anymore and she can go to finally make room for a more modern car for me to do my daily rounds in. I will miss her though i must admit, weve done some serious miles together on many a road trip.

The Good points:
Please understand that i drive, and have driven, thousands of sapphires over the years in my work as a tuner, and even with its various problems, this car is FAR and above over 90% of teh Sapphires out there. Its still strong and feels firm, its suspension, steering, braking and engine systems all work faultlessly. She returns in excess of 30mpg on a run and gives as good fuel economy as is possible for a YB of this spec under all conditions. She has no niggles whatsoever apart from what i will list further on. The majority of Sapps for sale nowadays are poor overall, this car is not. Please note that she has of course got a million other new parts, but i really cant be bothered listing clutch cables, handbrake cables, spark plugs, light lenses, headlights, wiper blades, fuel flters, oil changes, spark plugs, HT leads and all that crap. Of course it is all new and teh car will be FULLY serviced before it leaves me, as well as being subjected to a full years MOT at the local Main Ford dealer, at my cost of course..
The Bad points:
The paintwork on the bonnet in general looks like its done high miles "IMO"
There are 2 scabs on the rear wheelarch where i have neglected to have stonechips repaired.
There is a small dent in the passenger front door where some tw@ hit it with a door.
The rear panel seam has also blistered.
various marks around teh bodys paintwork, although none that i would class as very bad.
The differentials are a little clunky under certain conditions as they are one of teh few items on teh car that are still original at 150Kmiles.
The clutch is quite fierce and requires good clutch control for smooth driving.
The Bottom line:
I have literally been as honest as i possibly can be with this sale advert as i hate selling cars and want it to be over with as quickly and painlessly as possible. I also want people travelling to view it to have a fair represention of teh car before spending their time and money coming here. My original intention was to do teh following:
Fit used and lower mileage diffs.
Have bodywork repaired and paintwork done.
Change clutch or make hydraulic.
And teh car would then be almost perfect as a fast and yet economical road going sapphire Cosworth.
FAR more pictures and spec available here in the GARAGE: (Click it)
She has also been in many many magazines over the years when testing products and doing features with both Fast and Performance Ford magazines.
Mileage:
Ive told you this last as i wanted you to realise that virtually only the shell and Differentials reflect this mileage, which is 150K Miles. She has been mine since around 95K and maintained to the standard you would expect from me.
Price:
I want to draw Ł7500 back from the sale of this car. Please view and drive plenty of others before you come and drive this one but be warned, you wont drive it without me seeing you have insurance as i wont entertain clueless tyrekickers who just want to thrash the car for 20mins and then go home.
Notes:
I dont want to swop it for anything and i dont want to do a part ex. If you pay a deposit and then back out of teh deal, you will lose it.

Not that it needs it, but i can vouch for just how amazing this car is.
Stu took me for a short ride in it a few weeks ago, that was my first ride in anything Cosworth, and i consequently bought a Cosworth powered car myself.
This car goes, fast, and stops, fast... and looks great.
Plus, you have the benefits of knowing its been cared for by the best

Think its only fair i show her as she stands right now as opposed to after polishing, today, so i have just taken some pics on the driveway of teh house before i go to teh Gym so you can see how she looks totally uncleaned or polished on my driveway tonight.
The datalogger switch and phone kit overide buttons:
The EVC 5 and knocklink:
EVC 5 digital display on top of dash:
The engine:
Closeup showing rust and dust, NOT oil. LOL
Ive also taken pics of teh bad bits so you know where you stand:
Hope this helps to improve the honesty of the advert. I am off out to teh Gym now, will check back in a few hours.

Team HOTHOT!
Whoever buys this car will NOT be dissapointed in the slightest!
Put it this way, If I was in the market for another cossie, I would snap it up myself. But untill I have completed my driver training course (in about a years time) then its chipfat fiesta for me
Whoever buys this car will be buying a muched loved and exceptionally well maintained car - one of THE best Sapphs that is on the market today that is used as a daily driver

This is indeed a FABULOUS car Certainly NOT the usual clunking, rattling, oil guzzling example
Very FAST as well and maintained by the very best in the business
Anyone who knows Stu will know that he tends to be a little.... ermm... obsessive Great for the cossie though as it too has been subject to Stus excess as the advert shows

A very good example of the 4x4 cosworth.
A very good performer and reliability has been second to none.
The chariot got us all the way to Germany and back, very fast with no glitches at all. Twice.
It will be a first class buy for whoever enters the arena...
Will be a shame to see the old girl go, however, Bigger and Better things hey Stu.

This car is absolutely incredibly fabulous!! Do you know why?!
Because I have worked on it of course!! Oh yeah, and Stu has too.
Good car maintained to the highest of standards and modified in all the right areas. Not many Sapphires out there that are!!

Having seen the standards of work Stu puts into customer cars, I dread to think how long he has spent keeping it as nice as that Sorry it's another "wow nice car!" post, but it only goes to show the level of workmanship that MSD puts in -If you have Ł7500, it would be an insult to even haggle IMHO , pay the cash and drive it away
