My Flint Grey 2wd Sapphire Cosworth NOW BREAKING!
Minus a few essentials lol
I bought this car just a few weeks ago and after being happy with it for 4 days i decided to replace the clutch which was just starting to slip. It also puffed a small amount of oil smoke on the overun and so i decided whilst i was doing the clutch that i may as well pull the engine out and have a look inside.
Anyway in true Spadge style i ended up stripping the engine completely found the culprit which was the valve guides and then proceeded to build another engine with a 200 block and new head.
Whilst in the process of building the engine a rather nice Moonstone 2wd Saff came my way minus its engine and box and after much deliberation i ended up using the new engine for that (as it was taxed lol) and the Flint one donated its box also!
The plan was to run the Moonstone car for a while and then in my own time build another engine for the flint one and source another gearbox.
I have been driving the Moonstone one for the last week or so and have gotten attached to it and therefore do not need to keep the flint car.
I therefore have a few options which are:-
Break it - No chance i still love it and its far to good for that!
Source an engine and box and get it running again - still a possibility!
Sell it as is - which leads us to this advert
The car is a Flint grey 'F' plate 2wd registered 27/01/89
It is HPI clear
It has a 4x4 bonnet and full Raven leather with matching dashboard etc...
It is still m.o.t'd until June 4th
The tax expired at the end of March
It has a fair amount of history and bills but not a 'full' service history
The bodywork and paint are in very good shape with just a few minor car park dents if you look along the flanks!
Underneath is solid and not in need of any work that i am aware of.
The inner wings etc...are all good with just the odd small amount of surface rust and nothing serious at all.
The leather trim is in pretty good shape with the usual wear on the drivers bolster from numerous fat arses sliding across it over the years.
All the electrics work properly.
There is a recently fitted TOAD alarm with full closure and 2 fobs.
What missing:-
Engine (head+short engine+turbo+exhaust manifold)
Gearbox
Thats it!
Everything else i havn't touched including the engine loom which is still in the car, the exhaust which is a Scorpion with the centre box 'properly' removed Standard intercooler , diff , drive shafts rad etc etc...
The brakes havn't been touched and are all grooved/drilled and don't look very old.
The wheels are standard and in mint condition!
So if anyone has an engine and box kicking around and wants a cheap Saff which needs very little else doing then here you go
There are 2 options as regards price.
A - Buy the car as is and trailor it away £1600
B - Bring me an engine + box and i will fit them and get the car up and running again for £1600 + £300 for my time and effort.
Thats all
I don't have to sell it and if it sits here long enough i'll no doubt get it put back together again if it doesn't sell!
If anyone is seriously interested and i mean 'seriously' interested then call me on 07718 901737 to discuss
I'll leave you with a few pics taken about 3 or 4 weeks ago
The gaylord dials in the heater vent pod are no longer i'm afraid
Obviously most of what you see in this pic has now been removed inc the header tank and breather

For those that are 'bothered' about numbers of owners and mileage then it has 11 previous (normal for a Cossie) and 98k with a lot of old mot's

Yes its a good deal and if i find an engine cheap enough and close enough so i don't have to travel too far, before it is sold, then it will be back up and running soon!
Its worth that in bits but i really don't want to go down that route and condemn another perfectly good cossie to the scrap heap
