You've gotta get it off before polishing it...
If you mop it and get heat into the panel it'll burn into your paint. It'll just get harder to rectify.
Try a small area with thinners and check it wipes off...

I put a post up replying about your 1st post. most have been on my partners forum. Yes to both of the wipe and thinners. So I can confirm we tried what you said and it didnt work.
Paul, Thanks for the post. He went to see his friend today(owns his own bodyshop in Fairford) . He took the spoiler with him and showed him the paint. They used a panel wipe and thinners which didn't budge any of the overspray. He gave him a couple of white 3m discs to show me what they use. he will use that disc/s over the car and then use some 3m polish. They will do it the following saturday morning and return it later that day.
