Whoever told you the Code:Red was faster was telling porkies. The Code:Red maps are generally less powerful than their competitors, but have a good smooth spread of torque for good driveavility.
The two cars you're on about are very different, with very different price tags. If you can stretch to the full RS then do it, if you're on a budget you'll be very satisfied with a tweaked ST.
