Halal is a general Islam teaching but in this case (food/livestock), it's in the preparation and slaughter of the animal for meat or extract (no pigs obv). By product is that it can't come into contact with non-Halal though yeah.

You'll see on a slaughter line for Halal meat they string up the carcass for a lot longer to drain them out fully...
