I found better economy round town from a standard Rover on SUs than a 2.8i driving the same speeds but having to play with the gearbox more
Then there's the roll on from the V8 in top, my mate had a stage 3 3.1 with 390 Holley etc etc in his MK 3 He wasn't impressed with my 150 quid lump
Makes a better balanced car too
the 2.8i must of had problems then because its a more fuel efficient engine than the rover v8 and thats a fact.
rovers torquier but doesnt rev like the 2.8.
