looking for something a bit different for extra power from my mk3 xr3i . don't want to go down the turbo route was thinking bike carbs ,couple of questions do you need a stand alone ecu?,what power can be expected from this conversion both on the 2.0 zetec (is silver or black top better) or on the cvh with a decent cam and some head work,thanks in advance ,matty

I do like the CVH lumps but just because it looks right.

I'd personally go for the Zetec, it's better in every way. As for power, 160bhp without any other mods isn't unheard of, and yes you'll need stand alone management, but as you'll be using carbs you can just use an ignition only like Megajolt. Just run it off a crank trigger wheel which the Zetec uses anyway.
Add some cams and you'll be 170+, more with head work.

I run a single seater race car with a 2 ltr Black Top on R1 carbs and Megajolt Stick a set of 180 Weber 32/36 main jets in and you will get 165/170 bhp without any trouble.......
