recently bought my 2005 fiesta st150 and thought id let it breath a little better by installing a K&N 57i induction kit. installed correctly with the breather hose on and the cold feed pipe from the grill

Great results, seems to pull allot better now BUT the engine management light has came on a couple days after fitting it

Is it common for the new filter to bring the light on or is it just chance that something else has gone wrong at the same time ?

any reccommendations on what could bring the light on would be appreciated

Get the fault codes read or go back to standard filter and see if the EML goes out.

this happened too me on my fiesta zetec s the K&N causes it to show a fault because the air readings are higher if you swap back to original it will go out you will need to get a garage to turn it off

Maybe the oil that the filter came pre soaked with has covered the air flow meter causing it to illuminate the light. Quite common. Best off getting the codes read really to know for sure

Update : the light went off in its own time, ecu must have got used to the k&n
