Transit Connect 1.8 Diesil 55 plate
driving home today and it just cut out?? the glow plug light was flashing (turned the key of and then back on and it bumped started no problem)! when home turned it off and tried to restart it and it didn't start at all just kept turning over and over! just went out and it fired 1st time 
theres no smoke or unusual noises now heard about problems with pumps/injectors dying but what are the main symptoms?? or could it be electrical??

That happened with mine a while back and it was either crankshaft sensor or camshaft sensor can't remember which one tho get the fault code read it will tell you which one if it is the same problem I had but does sound like it

Firstly you could get a 17mm spanner turn it over a few times the crack the injector pipes to see if ya got pressure, if yes then do a diesel return flow test, that's the basic fuel test, you could the use a noid light to test the crank/cam sensors,
