Engine Systems Fault - loss of power
55 Plate Focus Zetec 1.8 tdci....I had "Engine Systems Fault" appear on my dash and the car started to feel like it was pulling back and lost power. When you turn the engine off and on the fault disappears. It is ok just driving around town but any increased acceleration triggers this.
There was a split in the pipe connected to the turbo (sorry I can't remember what it's actually called, possibly turbo manifold), but that was replaced 4 months ago. I don't know if this could be related.
The garage couldn't connect my car to the diagnostics so I have no idea what the fault is, or what it will cost me (more to the point).
The car has only done 48k so it's not even heavily used or abused.
Anyone got any ideas on what this could be or even what to check first...?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

it could be anything from a split pipe or sensor failure to something more serious like pump or injectors. trouble is with sooo much electronics you need to get the fault codes read first and go from there.

why couldnt the garage connect the car to diagnostic equipment??? you really need codes for this fault. It could be anything from a senor to the pump or a wiring fault... sorry to be so broad but as i say you need the codes....

I have no idea why they couldn't connect the diagnostic... it's not like it's a rare car! The pulling felt like a misfire, engine all sounds fine from what I can tell driving it, like I said if you turn the car off the warning disappears so I don't know if that resets anything. I'll have to take it to somewhere else and see if they have any luck with finding a fault code.
