Default mondeo clutch

just wondered if anyone can give me any advice, iv just bought a cheap mk3 mondeo tddi, its an x reg, 2000... a noise has just started and when you press the clutch pedal down it knocks and you can feel it pressing against your foot.. iv been told it might have a dual mass flywhhel so its more expensive to replace if its the problem.. is it the clutch ?? of if its flywheel can it all be swapped for a standard type clutch and flywheel.. any advice would be appritiated. thanks shaun..

Could also be the release bearing, might get more response for the question if put into GD.

sorry to say it now u know why it was cheap it does have a dual mass flywheel it does sound knackered its a proper nasty and expensive job they make a solid flywheel for the transit but not for the mondeo as far as i know fella could b a four figure price tag

Depends if you was to go to a garage to have it done really or if you was to do it yourself or someone else

I should think it's more likely the DMF as there very common on these as are injector problems neither of which are cheap to repair, if it were the release bearing it's usually the opposite, I.E with clutch released you get the noise and then when depressed the noise goes.

yep its the dual mass flywheel about 320quid for the parts thats flywheel, clutch and concentric slave cylinder its a full day of a job to do as you have to remove the subframe to get the gearbox out i do one of these at least twice a month sometimes more
i would not use the conversion kits that revert back to a standard flywheel, dmf;s are fitted to higher power diesels to take vibration out of the crankshaft, putting the solid flywheels on puts this vibration back into the crank which will eventually cause the crank to snap (i have known this happen several times usually within 10,000 miles of solid flywheels being fit)
