The 3550 I had in mine and Rods have always been prefect at that rpm these had a unsprung 6 paddle disc and a ground down input shaft to suit spigot bearing, Mine had cable and rods had a side push and then on to center push with a tripple and the same oil as yours and never a problem,
I know of two other cars with the TKO600 with sprung disc and spigot bearing and center push like yours both have the same problem as yours.

TKO600s should NOT be run with dexron 3 or any other ATF fluid for that matter. They should have GM syncromesh according to spec.
You will burn your syncros using ATF. It has got bronze syncrorings through out, not fiberbacked like the T5.

My own and Rods run the same oil and had no problems.

I think I have an email from Tremec saying only run the GM syncromesh.
Unfortunately, its expensive as *** here in Norway at Ł50 / ltr, hence why I asked them lol.

We need to look in to it more to sort these out, I will be calling redline tomorrow to see what they have.

The car was rescued from its tomb today & I began work on removing things under the bonnet. There is a lot to do on this car I realise that now. Many Many changes from the last Spec. Removed strut Brace Covers for Power Coating & had a chat with the sprayer to see what he required. Managed to complete half the engine bay in the 3 1/2 hours I allowed myself. Glad to say I can still clamber under the car (Its not on the ramps yet)when required although its way over 5 years since ive done that. Think Mark took some pictures as we dug the car out so will post as & when. Will be back on Friday for another 31/2 hours & hopefully the car will be ready for under bonnet paint. If not will go again on Monday so car is ready for spraying next week. As usual Mark wants changes to the wiring & wants to have more control of Fuel Pump Volts. We can have up to 21V max but only need that when at 3.5bar & on Methanol so not often. Not sure what hes up to yet but think the car will be able to tell when we put the different fuels in. Also trial fitted the dry sump system in the car. It still needs small mods but it should fit without changes to the steering rack but its tight.
We talked about Power again today & this will be limited by Turbo Speed. Mark thinks that pump will be limited to 800max then its how far do we push it. Boost will start at 3bar + on the ftw Purple & 950 is the likely outcome. If we achieve that Mark will take the GT4202 from the boot & strap that on & push it over 1000bhp. If we fall short & struggle to get past 900bhp the the GT4202 wont be used.
Enjoyed today
Cheers Rod

Redline came back to me either D4AFT or MTL so I will be testing the MTL.

Not much to report. Marks pictures didn't come out or at least ive not seen them. Have bought a hell of a lot of small items. Nuts, Bolts , Screws, Clamps, grommets, blanking Plugs etc. Not in picture but lots of heat shielding material as everything has been removed. The Strut Tops & Water Bottle are looking as new after Powder Coating. The next 10 days will see a big push or as big as I can cope with.
Mark is 50 minutes drive away so I cant cope with more than 2/3 days a week & a max of 3.5 hours a day.
I know that's Wimpy but the Missus is monitoring it as ive been ordered to take things easy. I also now have a page on Facebook to cover the build as it happens.

your health is more important that the taxi rod, and even though you may think she's fussing over nothing or getting too worked up about something silly, as jay has said, no point in both of you getting all worked up about it

but on the other hand, them strut tops do look really nice

This is the moment my car started its journey back from the grave. The car will be returned from paint tomorrow but the pic shows the underbonnet spruce-up is underway. Cant wait to get to work putting the bits back in & making the required changes to the wiring brought about by the new Spec. Will probably go over to Marks on Friday maybe to start that process if not will be Monday.

It would do my head in working there and I can be messy when I work. I guess it is just the way we are wired up, if Mark was a neat freak he might not have the skills elsewhere. I visited Manthey racing at the Nurburgring and it looks like an operating theatre, as we walked off the workshop floor a geezer followed us with a floor polisher.

Wish I had a papa like rod lol, I'd definately take things slowly at your age but hats off for still getting dirty.

That's not what I was picturing marks garage to be like, I was picturing shiny tiled floors and stainless worktops everywhere even though they never stay that way lol.

Did 4 hours today before Mark told me to stop felt fine but a bit tired after a long drive home. With the car on the ramps loads of little bits that need sorting came to life. Going to remove the rear suspension & sort out the surface rust & have the parts blasted. The rear arches under close inspection need a bit of work so its going back to paint to be sorted. Front half looks good. Started on the wiring its going to take a bit of time but I have loads of that. Its good for the brain taking out old Autronics wiring & trying to leave what I need behind. 2 wires had me beat, when I arrived home got the old Autronics CAD Drawings on the screen & sorted one of them. The other will be traced on Monday when I go back to Marks. The car goes back to paint 21st March so I have couple of weeks to sort all the wiring. Once all under bonnet wiring is sorted will put the 21V amplifier in the boot & wire in the fuel pump. This should be ample time if Mark/Missus will allow me to put the hours in.
ps. The gearbox has been removed so new heat shielding can be fitted must admit im amazed at the detail ive gone to in the past on this car not so sure I have that same sort of commitment now but I will try.

Nice work rod, it'll eventually get finished don't push too hard you have no deadlines. Slow and steady. Let's hope mark gets mine moved this week as I'm coming to get it shortly if it's done or not, times up now.

Don't wanna hijack rods thread, Just head studs swap as mine was built few yrs back and the first running a efr and it's had head lift problems, so the new studs mark had made will fix it. Then it's off to the body shop for quite abit of work.

Im enjoying this working Lark. Another 4 hours on the car didn't get around to taking a pic but will try to remember that tomorrow. Closing in on finishing the Accuvolt, CDI & Nitrous wiring. Going to fit the Head lights tomorrow & sort out that wiring. Going well !!.

These two parts will be fitted on Monday (maybe) its the 4 coil pack & the 22v Amplifier to drive the fuel pump. Taking longer than I thought but progress is being made.

Ready to fit. The Breather & Coils were on this plate for the last engine. A dry-sump means no Breather required so its a great place for the 22V Amplifier for the Fuel Pump. Fits in the orginal battery tray with a bit of luck it will be wired in on Monday.

Not good quality pics but better than nowt.

First two show 'Voltage' corner. The 12v terminal & to the left the 16v amplifier that supplies- CDI unit, EGT amplifier & Emtron ECU. the amp next to the coils is the 22v Amplifier that supplies the Fuel Pump. The CDI unit is mounted on the inner wing.
The 3rd Pic is the Nitous pulsoids & the purge valve. Lots still to tidy but getting there im now on the other inner ring with the heat shielding on the Turbo side my next task. Having 2 days off now but on Friday will remove rear bumper to allow some work on the rear arches to be carried out. The removal of the front & rear suspension will follow when it returns from paint going to have it blasted & painted. It looks like the front springs are shot so they will be replaced & the dampers removed & spruced up.
