But maybe you guys have more expecriance with that.

I've also seen An underdrive pullykit at pumaspee wich should give a few extra horsepower!!??
I guess it's becouse of the weight of the pully's?
Will this be a good mod?
Next year i need to replace the timing belt so it would be a good excuse to do this.

i have a cfm underdrive pulley on my track car. i removed aircon at the same time. the standard pulley weighed something around 1.5kg and cfm was 300grammes so big weight saving. it made a noticable difference to the revs speed up and the car felt quicker but i did remove ac too. there are supposed dangers with them as they remove the harmonic balancer which is built into a standard pulley. this can cause big end bearing wear or soming like that but i think some people agree with this and some dont. i dont care personally as i dont do many miles in track car and it take many thousands of miles to see any wear so ive read.

i honestly have no idea. iv read everything i can find on the net about them and some speak bad of them but others say they have done 40k and had no bearing wear. iv not read any long term reviews on our car though so no idea how it would fair long term. for what you gain it may not be worth taking the risk so do your research first. the risk for me doesnt bother me. i bought it for £40 used on ebay and its the best £40 mod iv ever bought.

Would you really do any kind of modification that would induce such wear? Surely that is the same as paying someone to smash a headlight with a baseball bat once a year, just for you to pay to have it replaced, before doing it again next year.........

very nice motor really like the direction you have gone with it.

on the power front i think if your figures are accurate your making very good power for an st170 with the said mods.
as stated if your after a bit more go with the cam timing alteration and maybe look at the lightweight pulleys, also a lightened/balanced flywheel if funds would allow.

the only other things i could think of n/a tuning wise would be throttle bodies and headwork, im sure doing a vvt delete doesnt really gain anything worth bothering with

Do you consider any mechanical work on the engine? I.e. port and polish the head or even some better pistons with increased CR?

Some great looking updates, can I ask you a quick question about the CFM throttle body, as that was going to be my next purchase for mine.

Basically I email Pumaspeed around 2 weeks ago asking about the CFM Throttle body, on there website it's listed as a straight swap, but on the CFM website it says you have to fit a hose adapter as it's a larger diameter ?

Is that the case ? as I have just fitted a nice blue hose on mine, and didn't want to have to change it already.

if your using the OEM hose, i don't think it will fit and you do need the adapter.
I allready had the samco hoses on and that will fit.
It's a bit of a struggle to get the hose on the TB but it does fit.
At least mine does

Youd best be buying it at CFM becouse it is cheaper for the same TB.

I'm not dooing any engine work on the ST.
Hopefully this saterday i will fit the adjustible camgear and that will be the last power upgrade for the ST.

Right, time to blow off some dust again.

The front bumper and hood where full off stone chips and a few weeks back someone slightly hit my front bumper so the paint was now full of cracks.
A good excuse to send it to the painter but since it had to be all painted anyway, i thought i'll give it a go on putting in some vent's in the hood.

After some thinking i was going for the vent's off a Fiesta rs turbo.

The painter it was going to had a hood lying around wich i picked up and then it was time to perpare it.

I will let the pick's do the talking:

looks great..

anything you can do to tone down the headlights without resorting to the standard black (non xenon) ST170 version ?

they are just a bit 'in your face' if you know what I mean with the colour coding you've just done..

IMO of course..
