Smile Escort MK1 - Hill Climb Car [Pics]

After been offered a drive into an Escort MK1 1300cc [https://passionford.com/forum/old-sk...eo-inside.html for info about that here], I fenced the idea at having a go at hill climb with my own car.

The car pictured below was raced by my father as a hill climb car, then my brother in law had a go at it, got bored at hill climbs and converted it into a drag car. He got married and stopped racing. This was 7 years ago, yesterday I picked up the car from his garage so that the car can live again

I plan on posting updates as I go along. brakes are not working, fuel pump had be removed and roll gage was removed too. Apart from these point this car should be fine. I'm not sure if I'm going to restore the body [paint and fix the dents] since I'm sure I will make a couple of dents of my own until I get used to the car. I'm used to modern cars... lotus Elise mostly since it's my daily drive, but anyway here are the pics

and some extra parts... you know... just in case...

Yes, mk1 are very popular, they are cheap [although prices are going up], plenty of parts, and relatively easy to modify, the amount of fun you get fo such lost cost can not be ignored. I was impressed with the 1300cc which I a had ago into, it's not that it was fast or anything, it's the whole package which I liked.

I may not know your friends personally, but I'm sure I have came across them at the kart track
