Had a few setbacks today first of all the crank sensor wire fell off as I removed it luckily I had bought a new one anyway
Then fitting the cambelt the stud for the tensioner stripped it's thread, not a good morning I retapped it nut wasn't happy with it so got a helicoil kit and sorted that out. Alls good now belt on and timed up
Need to get a gasket for the turbo oil return pipe then that can go back on, need to get the plenum back from the polishers then can get that sorted out

Finally got the inlet back from the polishers think they've done ok
Made sure all the threads are good just to be safe
Then mocked it all up to see how it fits
Really close at the back to the brake pipes out of the abs block but might just get away with it, just the pipe work to sort out then.

Started on the radiator fan surround today the brackets where rusty and some broke
So found someone who makes new ones in stainless, just a matter of drilling the old pot rivets out and new ones on and new pot rivets
Not too bad certainly better than the old ones

Now I've run the loom under the inlet the iscv was a bit short so rather that cut it made an extension piece with the proper plugs on
Decided I wanted to keep the throttle cable at the front so got a bracket but that's caused new problems too close to powersteering pipe now
Got the oil breather fitted with the pipes routed a bit better now

Finally got it running today started first turn of the key caught me by suprise
Ran it up all looks ok the the battery light came on, after a bit of searching and head scratching traced it to the alternator wires badly perished and hanging out of the plug
Peeled it back to find this
So cutting all that out and replacing it and braiding it then wrapping in heat proof sleeping, that's my job for tomorrow
The main cable seems too big to solder any one done this before

Sorted the wires to the alternator but the light on the dash is still on and only putting 12.2volts in battery when running
Put a mates old alternator on and lights gone off but only 12.6volts
So think it's defo time for a new alternator
