Well another week another set of mods.
I picked up some cracking 440cc RS injectors from the gents at Dreamscience (big thanks once again lads).
So today I thought I would fit them;
This involves moving the plenum & removing the fuel rail
Not many tools are needed - I made this little 8mm spanner as it came in very handy;
Well here are some in process shots;
Fuel rail off;
Old 4 hole ST injector:
New 10 hole RS injector:
All assembled on car;
While I was on I also tidied up the dump valve vacuum hose and was going to clean the engine bay but the heavy rain stopped this.
Engine back together ready to be cleaned;
I pulled the KAM fuse then went for a drive but due to very heavy rain havent managed to test the car out. The car did feel smoother and boost harder though.
Next up is sorting a new Pro Alloy cold pipe as I sold my old one
Also got these smart looking HVAC knobs;
And lit up;
Rob

Well new Pro Alloy cold pipe was delivered today so has been fitted, used my Roose red hoses rather than the horrible ones that were supplied - Viper Performance branded but quality wasnt great.
So with this fitted I cleaned the MAF & MAP sensors then pulled the KAM fuse for a bit. Went for a 30 mile drive for the ECU to sort itself out then gave it a bit stick - WOW!
Hand on heart this is the fastest I have ever felt the ST - boost is much improved and the kick is phenominal - thinking of putting it on rollers next month when put more miles on this setup.
Little vid of some baby flames as I needed cheering up

New RS fuel pump arrived today -
This will be getting fitted soon all being well
As winter is approaching I was going to refit the standard bonnet but I want to redo the original bonnet with RS vents but to a better standard. In light of this I made a template of the bottom of the vents and shaped them in Aluminium - needs a seal and drain hole adding then securing using the standard 3 holes in the bottom of the vent;

Love this car, so much better without the stripes though
How do the brakes cope on track? I know they are big but imagine they do take a beating given the cars weight
At what point does it become worth getting a new inlet plenum as well (Mountune or Sitech)?

Brake are a mixed bag - last year they did brilliantly but this year they let me down with the exact same setup. Weight isnt an issue on track for me as mine is around 100kg lighter than a standard ST.
The inlet is from what I gather for the higher powered cars - 370bhp+. I want one mainly for cosmetic reasons

When I lost interest previously I sold off the Whiteline 24mm adjustable RARB so I have been looking for a bargain, this just happened to turn up;
Profile 25mm Adjustable RARB in red with powerflex bushes;
This involved a 500 mile round trip to collect it but was well worth it for the price I paid 8)
Nice weather on the way as well;

Nice find on the RARB then.
Love seeing the updates on this.
Nice feature as well mate
Quick one, whats the best brake disc and pad choice for fast road? Put new (standard) discs and pads on front and warped after 5k miles so not happy. Especially as they are not used that hard very often.

I used to recommend EBC dics and pads but warped an EBC turbo groove disc without any effort. They were pretty new so ended up with the old ones I took off back on. Pad wise I ran standard TRW pads with turbogroove and worked really well, even on track.
Next ones I am going for is Ferodo DS2500 as these have been highly recommended to me.
Cheers for the support mate

I'll be getting someone else to do it or guide me. Not done out on a car for years so something like breaks I don't want to mess up.
Not the best thing to fail if my mrs 5 year old was in the car!
Any recommendations on where to buy at decent prices? Trawling the web takes ages and ebay can be full of fake kit.

Well another update;
New rear diffuser was delivered yesterday morning and weather seemed canny so that got fitted with trusty Tiger Seal. Then the rain stasrted so made a blanket of tape to try and keep it secure;
All cured this morning so removed the tape and headed out for a nice drive around northumberland and back down the coast;
And yes it needs a clean ASAP - hopefully tomorrow 8)
Also picked up the RARB from the powdercoaters after being redone in red;
Decided to get new bush housings now and get them powder coated as well :P

Right here we go was hoping to have a bigger update but only 3 deliveries came so today was Carbon day.....
Specifically a carbon fusebox cover combined with a Focus RS battery cover and carbon cover
Fresh out of the packaging;
And onto fitting;
All fitted and by god I love it 8) Alot more carbon parts are in the process of being sorted but might take longer than hoped

Well I went to the Passionford local meet today and car seemed to go down well.
After the meet I was bored and once I cut a classic Mini into 3 pieces I decided to paint the front lip under the grill black.
This was getting done anyway when car goes in for front end respray but decided to
see what it would look like if I did it
Plate on;
Looks superb in my opinion - looks even better with the full mesh grill in that I use at shows 8)
6th May will see the addition of Quaife diff and Focus RS clutch conversion

Great looking car with lots of good stuff in that engine bay. Congrats.
Shame that in my place the petrol costs so much.
I have a doubt and I was wondering if you could help regarding the door cards.
I also have a focus (TDCi) and I was also trying to remove the standard doorcard fabric and replacing it for leather, but I found a problem, lots of rivets holding the fabric plastic. How did you managed to get rid of the rivets, and how did you put it back again?
cheers

Just seen these replies
Thanks for the comments
I removed the standard doorcard then cut the top of the plastic rivet off with a stanley knife. Pulled the standard insert off.
When refitting I got some short self tapping screws and drilled a small pilot hole before using these screws to hold it in place.
Hope this helps
Rob

Well I am down Dreamscience a week on wednesday for RS oil cooler and lots of pampering for the ST.
I also decided I wanted some accurate gauges as well as the standard gauge pod.
I bought a sheet of real carbon fibre, some wire and scotchlocks and finally a ST3112 Stack boost gauge.
It isnt wired up at the minute and the carbon mount is a temporary one as waiting for a new hole saw to come through so doesnt chew the carbon fibre like my current one does.
Here are some pics showing what it sits like in the temp mount;
Next week will be wiring in and plumbing in and then the best bit - testing

Looks good. But with this you will stay with 2 gauges for the same purpose.
Why you not put the new gauge on the place of the standard one?
It will need some brick for sure, but I think it would be possible.
cheers

The standard gauges are smaller than aftermarket 52mm ones so cant be fitted into the pod. The standard boost gauge isnt that accurate and I am doing some testing shortly so needed to get an accurate boost gauge.
There has been some development work done for getting gauges the size required for the pod but this has never materialised. If I am honest the stack gauges look much nicer.

Got cracking with the wiring - found a canny Ford bodge - tapped into the ignition feed for the stereo and unwrapped the loom and found some of the wiring was black taped up inside.
Corrected this and found the same with the cigarette lighter so replaced all that wiring as well - now I have safe wiring and a working light on the gauge.
Also made another carbon mount for the gauge as was bugging me the first one I made;
And the nightshots;
Tomorrow I just need to the plumb the boost line in and its job done

What year is your ST? Around 2007 they changed the colours as well as the shape of the headunit. Mine had all the latter changes so is red/orange illumination, the rounder headunit and has the rear interior light as well.
The AFR gauge is the plan but got other bits to do before getting this fitted.
