My Mk2 VR6 from New Zealand
Well I am CRAP at taking pictures when working, I get too caught up in working.
Anyway I bought this car late last year and have been converting it from a lowly 1.3 power pack to a glorious VR6. It is not as common out here as in UK, in fact anything that isn't Jap is very un-common. I had always wanted one from age of 18 but being young and Scottish I was too tight to pay insurance
Here is the car as I got it, had been sitting for a few years doing not much. Was originally imported from UK.
Engine bay as 1.3
Interior of a poverty spec
Only 149k KM on the clock
So I set about changing it, got a 96 VR6 donor vehicle which gave up EVERYTHING for the cause. The vehicle runs full VR6 running gear, front and rear axles/subframe, Power steering, fuel tank and pump, exhaust system with centre suitcase removed and no showy exhaust tip , Mk3 clocks which don't sit perfect but all work including MFA, Passat GT radiator flipped to work.
I then fitted a stunning MK2 GTi interior out of the car we are turning in to a rally car for a friend, it is spotless. ;D
And on with a set of coilovers, they are an awesome find as not only are the spring seats adjustable but the shock bodies are also adjustable in to the hub mounts, so you can raise and lower without moving the springs. Got them from a guy in Christchurch at a decent price, a rare find in NZ.
In fact it could be absolutely stuffed in to the deck and remain captive but the sump sits a little low.
Roof bars, should they stay???
Un-assuming haha love it.
124,000kms for running gear
Like new interior
The business room
Needing big bumpers but I do like the look with smalls also.
Have a track day at the end of March so will decide then if it needs more power ;D but I am happy with how smooth and effortless it runs just now.
Have a set of arches and big bumpers that just need fitting too. The whole thing was done in 3 months and that included a Month off as I was away getting married, really the major work has been completed in around 4 weekends, and was a major budget build so I am very happy with it.

A little update, done a Track Day at weekend at Ruapuna, car ran great all day, was lots of fun being back on track as I hadn't done it since Knockhill about 6 years ago.
Pictures from Ruapuna Circuit in Christchurch NZ on Saturday, including some with Greg's 1.8T Mk1. ;D
Me just about to pass Greg :P haha In all seriousness it was AMAZING how closely matched the 2 cars were considering the differing engine setups. Greg certainly had the edge out of the turns with his torquey turbo boost, when up to speed on the straight the VR6 had the edge and everywhere else was pretty even. I think my larger brakes may have helped slightly too, 288mm vs 256mm. Great day though and so much fun when 2 cars are so even.
Unfortunately on the last session of the day my diff decided to grenade itself:
So now on look out for new box and/or a LSD to save this happening again. Probably going to need a clutch too as the trans spat it's oil all over it. ;D
I REALLY want a tubo, but I think it will ruin the reliability of it long term.
