Default project xr4 cosworth

thought that it's about time i started a thread on the old girl.
i bough her about 14 months ago now, here she was when i got her..

she's never been welded and has never had a respray, it has 106000 on the clock with some service history, it's on a different plate aswell, used to be on A276EVO but the last guy sold it which is a bummer but i can see why.
well she has been in the garage for a few months now and i've only started to get her sorted, managed to get some parts together....

and the best buy so far.....

started work on her last week with getting the old engine out and the new one bolted in, which i was so suprised at how easy it was to fit!!

and the most rewarding feature of the project

now it's just the wiring and some painting to be done to the body parts next weekend!
thanks

ok well today i finally got round to doing a little bit more to the 4i, weather is getting better (although still very cold down here)
i removed the rear bumper and some trim to fully go over the car to see if there was any rust/rot i was unaware about, here was my finds....
both sills, to my suprise are absolutely mint!! 8)

then the rear bumper, passenger side was good but drivers will need some slight attention

was also aware that the drivers door was gone, so i'd managed to pick up a new one up a few weeks ago

the new door fitted, and with a little bit of rub down done.

here are some more of my finds when looking over the car...
a nice crack down the windscreen, thanks to the weather i believe, was not that big before

bit of poor welding on passengers inner wing, will be cut out re-welded and smoothed in.

cossie bonnet which will need a bit of work done

had also ripped out the old exuast

here's the new one for the new engine

that's it really for this weekend, hope to start the real work within the next few weeks now, still trying to source parts, other bits are being worked on by my mate
here's a few more pics of whole car and a few new bits that had turned up for her in the past few weeks

just rested front bumper to see what it looked like. 8) 8) 8)

gave the peace between to the two rear windows a run over with some polish, came up well considering the surface rust 8)

new smoked rear light, went through and paid alot to get these!!

set of the 15" rs7 softlines

thanks for looking and i hope you like it boys and girls, please comment

I built a white 24v 4i years ago

Was a fun , easy car to drive

Don't make it into a cossie replica, a 4i is a unique car

Good luck with it

Mine had the cossie front bumper, grill and bonnet.

It was colour coded to the rest of the original kit

yea and that's what i like about it, i like the two tone because it shows the unique side to the 4i, also prefer them to the cossie's

i don't like the spoilers and windows on cossie's where the 4i's are lush

what kind of paint did you use and what colour??

thanks fella

I can't remember it was a long time ago

Just used to apply bumper dressing to it, kept it nice and dark
