Another Astra GTE
I've done a bit of lurking and a few posts so thought it only polite to say hello and show what i'm driving.
It's going through a change at the moment, I did have it for sale with the intention of buying something else to turn into a track car but with the way things are at the mo I decided to track this instead.
Most of the jobs I'd have to do to a track car I've already done on this shell so it would be daft to start again with an unknown shell. At it's last mini-rebuild it had welding to the steering rack bulkhead to repair and strengthen it, the power steering was removed along with the ABS and all the unused wiring was removed from the engine bay. The Leather Recaro Interior was sold and paid for a Safety Devices 6 point cage, Cobra buckets and harnesses with a few quid left over
I'll be updating this over the next few weeks as I go. I've been looking at the diaries on here which has given me a few more ideas as well

not this one...there was one a few years ago that was similar
nah...It's only a set of cow covered RST style recaros with some Capri fishnet headrests at the end of the day. I was getting bored with it TBH but after fitting the Cobras and harnesses I love driving it again. Got plans for it, keeping a lot of the Championess just doing it a bit different

yeah it may "only" be a set of cow covered recaro's and a bit of fish net but i na few years a tidy champ will fetch stupid money and you will be kicking yourself for track car'ing it!
do really like gte's and even more so the champs as the colour is really nice and suits the shape well!
mte has a stripped out 16v one as a track car that he brought as a rally preped shell and reshelled his old one into it, cant wait to see it used!

I'm hoping to do 3 or 4 trackdays a year, the rest will be RWYB days and shows. It's old setup was good for 13.4 @ 105...hoping to beat that this year and next year I'm looking into fitting a Saab 2.3 turbo

did my first trackday last week at Cadwell and car was faultless and never missed a beat...despite the other cars on track. Only thing quick enough to pass me was an MK kitcar that was a bit slower in straight line but in a different leauge in the bends
got some incar videos that I'll be uploading in the next few days including one follow the Focus RS

next jobs are get an LSD fitted and sort the suspension...taking it round Cadwell pointed out it wasn't as good as I thought it was and was hard work getting the power down out of the bends.
The engine will have some more work done later on like ditching the crappy K16 turbo...it's reasonably quick as it is for now, does 13.3@110 quarters and was used as a daily driver till recently so has been very reliable but more power is always good

there's only one way you can tell if they are genuine, it should say 636 on the vin tag for the trim code. 636 just means leather, they were never numbered so that's the only way to 100% ID them
