Default The New Project, Sapphire.

Hi peeps, let me introduce the latest of my toys.
It started life as a run of the mill Sapphire 1.8 GLX. since i bought it 2 months ago its been a great little runabout up until last tuesday when it suddenly lost all power and smoked like a trooper, I thought this was down to the head gasket but once i took the head off i found that I had in fact melted number 2 piston. (dont ask me how because i really dont know) LOL.

So onto the inevitable, finding a replacement engine.
Take one L plate Granada cosworth with 252000 miles under its belt,
(dont worry though as the engine was rebuilt 42,000 miles ago)
Pay £250 for:-
the engine,
wiring harness,
ECU,
engine crossmember,
steering rack,
Front legs complete with disks, callipers and tca's,
Front anti roll bar,
Complete rear beam With Diff, shafts and ARB.

Ive prepared the wiring and installed it into my car,
going down the 5 speed type 9 gearbox route,
prepared the engine and going to be installing it into my sapphire tomorrow.

And dont worry I will post some pics of the before and after some time tomorrow.

Finally got the 24 valve into the cheepy runabout today so quite a happy chappy.

As you can probably tell i'd only just got the engine in at this point and still got quite a bit to do.

By the way you wouldnt belive how easy it is to wire a late 24valve in if you keep the small passenger side fuse box and mount it under the dash board. Ive got it down to just 8 wires that needed connecting in.

Hiya peoples can I just say that today im over the moon as the little beauty started up first attempt
Im just in the process of tracking down a pair of 4x4 front dampers and then im off to my local custom exhaust builders to get my front pipes conected to my middle section.
Im glad to say its been a hard slog what with working out on the drive in the cold and wet weather but im more than happy to say that i built my own car to the spec i wanted and im more than sattisfied with the results.

Looking good
Does your rev counter work OK? the later model Sierras (H reg and on)have a slightly different rev counter that wont work with the 24V signal for some strange reason fitting the old type cures this.
