2.5 V6 mondeo engine in my N Reg 1.3 Escort....is this poss?
Hi folks, new to this forum so take it easy on me!!
Basically I'm fed up with having a cool car (the escort) and it not being fast enough.... it deserves at least a 1.6/1.8 so i thought I'd try and dump a 2.5 V6 from a Mondeo in it (then obviously upgrade the suspension/exhaust/brakes/wheels to take the new power and weight)
Have seen V6 engines on eBay for around £200 - £300 as a starting point.
I am planning on leaving the body kit standart (with the black bumpers that do the fast looking red paint no justice) so it's going to be kind of a Q car... fast as but so unassmuming!!
I will (within the next 6 months) be given an Audi 80 2.0 as my 'normal car' so I will still have the 'cort knocking round and this fun project in my head....!!
If anyone's attempted this before can you please let me know how it went and all about your trials and tribulations you had converting your escort to a bit of a beast....
Thanks for any help you can give!
ps - just tell me if I'm mad and it can't be done.
pps - just as an after thought, 4X4 would be fun too....

As for the 4x4 buy an ecsort cozzy it will be a better job than most 4x4s ive seen done!
sorry if i sound like a boring old git but im just tryin to save you some cash

yes it can be done, dudes back in the early 90's with bomber jackets, sunglassses and yellow gold ,used to get a scrap mondy or probe or nick one, nick the front end and put it in their mk3-4-5 escort, i remember a couple of v6 escorts going around as they understeered in to a lamppost lol dont do it,its pointless put a rst or thottle boddied lump in it,its easier.

yes it can be done, gonna cost u about 10k in the end i reckon, loadsa bts will have to be fabricated etc. have u got that sorta mney to spend on it? its not one of these things thats gona cost about a grand to do. if ya want more power but on a much smaller cost, u be best to do 2.0 zetec with all the other bits comin from a 1.8 escort. or a rs turbo engine in there

Cheers guys!
1st Escort: that was my main concern (insurance) and I got pulled by the pigs last night (just for being 20, in an escort, and wearing a black jacket... i was only poping to my mates...!!)
B9KOS: That yellow 'cort is smegging mint dude? That yours?
EssexMikeSi: Seriously that much? I was thinking of only a few k as i'm a poor student who's stealing the goverments money for free (i live at home....!!) may have to look more seriously into it if that's the cost!
Cossie Cal: If they're rayban aviators don't worry, i got two pairs of original ones from the 70's off my grandad!!
Also my mate is another ford freek and would be able to do a fair bit of the work (and his bro is high up in a garage so we can borrow them) so most of the work could be done by us (read: him!)
Would it really be that difficult? Does the engine not have the same mounts?
Cheers again.
