Escort mk 5b xr3i project updated 18.11.06
Hi again peeps new project this time and hopefully this will last longer than my white mk 5 lol,
Right here goes the car as i bought it,
Right this is where things get slightly interesting and ugly picture wise as i put the focus rims on ebay and dropped my car on my spare mk5 rs2000 wheels which were advertised also,
So guy phones me on the day wheels ended (friday) and said he'd fetch the wheels on monday nice i thought then half hour later a guy calls and you guessed it wanted to fetch the rs2000 wheels on monday the same day as the focus rims were going,
Now this is where it gets a little ugly as i had 2 choices 1 leave the car in the garage on bricks or hope one of the lads had some wheels kicking about for a panic buy,
So as look had it my mate had some mille miglias for sale so these were bought as they looked (SLIGHTLY) better than the first option note the slightly though, Here goes,
Now just 4 days later enough was enough and some 16 inch fox evo 3's came up for grabs at the right price wrapped in 4 brand new 205/45/16 avon zv3's but with a crap white paint job although not noticeable untill looking close up so refurbing these are on my to do list aswell pics below,
So this is how she looks at the min but over the last few weeks i've stripped the seats and carpet out chissled all the bitumen up and wire brushed the whole boot area up and underneath the back seats and all the floor pans up to bare metal,
I've already painted the boot area up and where the rear seats sit and i've already fitted the boot area back up as i wasn't going to do a resto this time but with some encouragement from a few fellow pf'ers here i am again,
The floor pans are still bare metal as the previous owner jacked the car up on the sills and floor on both sides all the way up the car
The welding needed as a result of this will be done on monday but i'll take pics of my progress so far tomorrow and as you will see the rear seat area is already painted up and the floor pans are pretty much bare metal all over so you'll get a fairly good before and after effect,
Hope this will be interesting enough for you all and good reading for you and now i'm out of work again there should be some regular updates of all shapes and sizes although larger updates will be as and when funds allow,
More pics to follow of the inside tomorrow and a bigger update mid week when i get the car back from my mate / welder,
cheers, Grant

Right folks slight update ive made myself a sunstrip and fitted my sticker i bought from ford fair,
Next i got a bargain last night and bought a frst charge carrier for Ł10 so today i set about cutting the brackets off and polishing it up and also added my silicone hoses to it also from ford fair,
While my car is at my mates im gonna have a go at polishing my rocker cover i've already started but it's not come up that well yet so i'll carry on with it and try and make it better,
More updates after the welding and hopefully with a polished rocker cover,
Cheers, Grant

Right a little update although nothin major i tried to polish my rocker cover up to match my frst charge carrier as pictured above but for some reason it wasn't having it and wouldn't come up as good so i've decided i'm going to paint it the same colour as my car now and sand back the ford and dohc 16v,
This is how it is now after i primed it up about 2 hours ago,
As things stand the car is still with my mate being welded but will hopefully be back soon so i can get on with some work again,
I'm gonna try and get some paint mixed up this week or maybe next to get the rocker cover done,
More updates when the car comes home cheers, Grant

Awesome to see you still have another XR3i mate, a lot better than the white one it is, and in the best colour
Out of interest what paint did you use for the floor? I'm going to be stripping out the complete inside soon to sand back, primer, paint and lacquer - wat just gonna use halfords cans but would be interesting if theres anything better.
Fingers crossed a Leather Esc Cos interior will find its way into my car as well
Anywho keep up the good work mate and keep the updates coming!

Right peeps i now have the car back and have been busy with grinding the welds down underneath but no pics of that as yet,
AS i say car is home now and as i've solved one problem getting the welding done i've gained another
Basically my mate had to jump start the car when he'd finished welding as the battery was flat,
The problem here is he went back inside the workshop to put his tools away and left the car running YES AND i can hear you all saying but i forgot to mention my water pump is fucked and my fan switch is temperamental,
So now this has resulted in the obvious the car overheated and the head gasket has let go
Anyway not all is bad as i have my 130 engine spare from my previous project thank fuck lol so when i've sorted the underneath out and the inside i'll start cleaning it down and painting it all up ready to go in,
Next thing which a couple of people off here know about is i've changed my rims again mainly due to the cost of things so far and the size of my to do list increasing by the day which as a result i couldn't be arsed with having a set of multi spokes to refurb so pics,
They may not be to everyones taste but they're different and i like em for now lol so all comments welcome and i'll get some more updates this weekend,
Oh and they're st 24 mondeo rims cheers, Grant

Alright nick i jetwashed it mate pmsl loads of fairy liquid and a scrubbing brush then jetwashed it again and to be honest it came up mint
As for the engine it's for sale again now as mine has been tested fine it's just the waterpump thats packed up altogether so i'll just have to be careful not to run it for too long but i'll still get my engine out at a later date to bufty it
I'll get some pics up of the interior later this afternoon as i'm a little busy at the min, cheers, Grant

Wheels are much better mate, you interested in my old exhaust btw?
Just had it changed, minty mint and cheap - could always swap it for any parts I need interior stuff mainly lol
Sounds good with the trim, I couldn't ever do that though would probably dry wrong and smell
