Powdercoating your fuel tank, is it possible ?
Afternoon all
I am having trouble finding out about the possibility of having a new fuel tank powdercoated.
I am restoring the underside of my Series 1, and have a brand new fuel tank for it. I would like to have it powder coated as it looks a better finish than just painting it obviously, and is a lot more durable......BUT.....
One of the powder coating places i just called, said yeah no problem, and the other place said "no you cant powdercoat a fuel tank....as there is solder in the seams, and when we put it in the oven the solder will melt and fook your tank!"
So what am trying to find out is....has anyone successfully powder coated a fuel tank without the above problems, or is it better to just paint it ?
Thanks in advance
Michael
