Have you tried any of the price comparison sites. As direct line tried to fleece me this year and i had been a customer for 12 years in the end saved £200. Shop around..

I pay £240.00 for my 92 Escort Harrier with Lancaster Classic Car Insurance. That might seem cheap enough but they take the p!ss instead by charging hefty fees for such as £30 a time for things like cancelling a policy or changing your vehicle over. These fees are on top of any increased premium as a result of changing the car. Their customer service is bad too, every time you phone them it takes about 15 minutes to get through. I definitely won't renew with them, and the £30 cancellation fee almost seems like a price worth paying to be rid of them.

on the news today, about time....

The UK car insurance market is to face an investigation by the Competition Commission after a watchdog report found that artificial charges could be pushing up premiums by £225m a year.

My current insurer sent me a renewal and it had gone up by £200. When I rang them they couldn't justify why the price hike. Needless to say I told them to do one.

Got my renewal and rang them to add alloys, bluefin and s/s exhaust and they came back with same price. Which is kinda good but is still more than last year. Bit of sweet and sour to it.
