Removing and refitting 2001 mk3 mondeo steering wheel?
Anyone done it? My steering wheel is badly worn on my 2001 mondeo, I've got a new wheel but not sure on fitting, if I disconnect battery is it safe to remove airbag? And will airbag light need resetting? Cheers

1) remove battery cables
2) wait 10-20 mins
3) there are torex(i think) screws in the back of the steering wheel, remove these
4) the are bag should now unclip
5) undo the steering wheel securing nut ALMOST all the way and pull the steering wheel off.
6) undo the nut the rest of the way and remove the steering wheel completely.
hope this helps

disconnect battery
wait 20 minutes
make sure you can still rotate the steering wheel
turn it so that you can get to the 2 torx screws on either side at the back that hold the horn/airbag in place
they won't come out
pop the airbag unit off, it may need a little persuasion but not much
unclip the fixing ring from the centre
this should simply pull off
now you can undo the wires
then undo the nut in the middle almost all the way
when it's loose, bang the rear of the steering wheel to knock it free
you can then remove the steering wheel
fit the new wheel
fit your airbag unit with the cruise control buttons to this wheel
