Default Mikalor clamps?

Are they really worth the extra cost over standard hose clips?

iirc karlos g had them on his turbo cabrio and when he removed them due to them leaking boost he gained 5psi, that put me off them

Was that because they don't come in a huge variety of sizes. Like I need mine to go over a 70mm hose and that size range only tightens to 68mm. I'm worried that's not tight enough once 35psi is going through it

Shite.

When they get tightened up, opposite the nut/bolt you get a 'hinge' point and it doesn't clamp there.

I've pressure tested god knows how many inlet systems and they've leaked like seives! Put normal jubilee clips on and they've been perfect.

Not worth the extra money!

I just wanted to check
No point getting a lesser product for the sake of a few quid
Anyone recommend any good hose clamps then? Preferably with rounded edges

My mate had them on his series 2 and the hoses were forever popping off making the car stall! We spent more time under the bonnet putting the hoses back on than we did driving about!!!

Can't beat a good old fashioned jubilee clip!

Crap in my experience. Kept popping off on me when boosting hard! When a friend took the car out for a set up first thing he mentioned was the massive boost leak! As the guys say jubilee clip gets the job done much better. Mikalor maybe ok for water hoses? But i will not be using them again for boost hoses.

ive got mikalors on my 100e. i havnt had a boost hose come off yet but as already mentioned, they do leak where the bolt tightens. i always pressurize the intake system if ive had to do any work and found that you have to do them up soooo fuckin tight to stop leaks its stupid!

get Jubilee clips. cant go wrong really

when i removed mine it was hard to get them off, then wouldnt tighten back up,it was like the bolt had stretched.not worth the extra ££.do look better than jubilees though.

There are marine grade stainless steel ones from Parkers etc that are ace, nice rounded edges and seal complete 360 due to the design, just a dull finish compared with mikalor.

I had them (Mikalor) fitted to my 3 door when Martoon mapped it he took them off and replaced them with normal SS clips as they leaked.

buy proper thin banded t-bolt clamps.

They clamp hard, and do not leak like the bulky mikalors.

Although I think I seen a pic recently, and Mikalor might actually offer proper thin clamps too ? But the thick heavy ones are shite.
