Default Saph 2wd fuse 22 problem- UPDATED- alternator problem?

I took my 2wd out last night for a run as the battery was low, so i thought id give her a run to help put some charge back in the battery when all of a sudden the battery light came on, and the rev counter, temp, and fuel gague died, so i drove it home slowly.
I have inspected it this morning, and the 10A fuse (bottom right in the pic) has blown. Ive looked in the owners manual, which states fuse number 22 is for the instruments and controls.
I replaced the fuse, switched on the ignition and its blow again, the battery light did come on tho?

does anyone have a clue what could be causing it? or if its a common problem?

surely if the eath wasnt connecting the fuse wouldnt blow anyway as there would be no compleate circuit?
would that be the correct way to look at it?

Sounds like a short somewhere, wire chaffed through, switch with an internal short? Just got to go round measuring the resistance of stuff

right, all the switches have been un plugged, its still doing it, i noticed while moving it around in the snow that if you rev it the battery light is comming on and not going off till you switch the car off?

how do the wires come fro the fuse box?? does it come straight from there to the clocks?

If anyone does have a wiring diagram it would be really useful

Sorted, kind of, traced it back today to being the wire to the alternator, soon as the ignition is on the fuse blows, so removed the wire off the alt and its working fine, would this suggest the alternator is on its way out?

Could be an internal fault in the alternator...
