SOLVED!!! Chatter and no dump valve after fitting boost gauge....?
A little advice needed please...
Before fitting the Ford Racing boost gauge I had the usual pssssssssssshhhtttt from the dump valve when changing gears.
Fitted the boost gauge and tee'd it into the dump valve to inlet manifold hose.
Now I only have chatter and a little dump valve sound, chatter 1st, then DV.
The pssssssssssshhhtttt is gone......now it's chirpy as hell!!
Is this normal?.....or have I missed something?
Reading here, chatter can be bad?....i.e. Gas flowing back into turbo blades causing wear...
I'm running T34/.63, 500 cooler, GRP A cone filter, Bailey DV, etc etc
It was rolling roaded peaking at 26psi and holding 24psi (from memory) but the gauge is maxing out at 20 and holding 18.......driving it seems a little more restricted than before fitting it if that makes sense.....
Any advice is welcome.
Cheers,
Philip.

try another vac line and see what that is like, chatter wont harm a t34 its only some of the gt series turbo's that dont like it. mine chattered and dumped on my cossie when i still had the dv fitted.
make sure you dont tee into the vacuum pipe for the fuel pressure regulator, that vac pipe should go to the fpr and nothing else

Glad you said that botters

The other easily available one is to the MAP sensor.....thought I read somewhere not to do this?
Thanks for the info. I know not to connect to the FPR pipe. The only other available one is blanked off and would need an adaptor to tee into it. It's the bottom vacuum connection on the inlet.

I think you might have what I done when I fitted my boost gauge. I plumbed in the t piece wrong and found that there was a little brass bit pressed into the t piece end that connected to the boost gauge pipe thus restricting the airflow to the dumpvalve causing the chatter. Hope this might help

You've actually read my mind as this is what I was thinking. I had trouble locating a correctly sized t piece so had to make one up with various pieces....i.e. brass pieces, hydraulic pieces etc etc....crap I know
We squeezed the locking nuts very tight to ensure no leaks but I was thinking they could be oversqueezed and one of the olives could be squashed thus restricting the airflow to the dumpvalve causing the chatter, as you say.
I'll rip it tomorrow and double check it.
Much appreciated kosienutter
Will update this tomorrow.
Cheers,
Philip.
