Default relay identification

hi, what are the two purple relays with fuse holders connected to them for? they are just under the glovebox, i ask because the fuse holder on one of them melted on mine today causing a fair amount of smoke and some brown trousers lol!
ive pulled the fuse and the car still runs and everything works on the car?? the relay doesnt get hot (even when the fuse was melting) and ive pulled the relay apart and it wasnt stuck in any way and didnt itself smell burnt

ABS. (HFS is also same colour IIRC, but yours is a 3DR going by your sig, so this doesn't apply!)

To be specific it's for the pump which provides the assistance, in the same way a conventional servo would, so you can't drive without it!

Fuse should be 30A.

yeah fuse was 30 amp but had just melted not blown, im gonna trace all the wiring see if i can find a short somewhere, fortunatley the car is off the road at the mo so is only being driven in and out of my workshop, i dread to think what may have happened if it was still being used daily!

It could be due to the pump mate, you have either high resistance or excess current being drawn to cause that problem, a bad pump will cause both of these.

ill check it over weekend and report back mate, im tempted to think wiring at the mo as i have had literally hundreds of wiring faults on this car due to the last owner fancying himself as an electrician lol, when i fit my fuel pump loom i ended up removing about a mile of wiring from the car that had been used for stereos and old alarms etc..., if i had a pound for every wire i found tucked away somewhere with a bit of masking tape on it with "not in use" wrote on it then i could probably buy myself a decent car lol

Yes they are the exact problems they have. But tbh the wiring isn't the best to start with, the horrific fan loom is one classic example that was substandard to start with!

I don't think however you have a wiring problem with your pump, as due to the location where the problem is (i.e. at the relay), it shows the pump to be the suspect imo.
