Difference in 200 blocks Picture atatched

Default Difference in 200 blocks Picture atatched

I'm in the process of rebuilding my 200 block, and came across a thread on here and noticed there something different about my block to the one pictured. Can anyone tell me why this is.

It was used for driving a mechanical fuel pump on the pinto's IIRC think it was just filled in on later blocks, there is usually a blanking cap that goes over it.

I am sure that is where the lift pump went on the carburetter models (pinto engine) ,that is early casting,dont worry about it,you dont need it

Did they do a 200 block in pinto form?

yours is the later motorsport replacement block, it probably doesnt have the core plug on the back or a yb number on the front either, the ones with the old pinto fuel pump hole were production blocks actually fitted to the road cars.

no, in fact they are better as the design was improved by reducing the number of holes in the block so it should flex less as a result
