Default 4x4 Intercooler.

I have had a good4x4 intercooler lying in the back of the garage for a while now and with the weather getting hotter, I have noticed the boost and performance dropping off slightly on my 2wd saff running MSD Stage 1.

I havent got round to fitting the 4x4 one yet, as I have realised and been told I need to cut or bend the rad to fit it. Will the 4x4 intercooler offer a noticeable difference over the 2wd item???

Yes it'll make a noticeable difference, especially in the mid range in my experience.
You only need to make a minor modification to the rad - if you've got the Ford rad, there's a small tag on one of the rad's upper fan housing mounting flanges, about an inch or two long. Lop it off as it's not structural and the cooler will fit right in there.

4x4 is a better intercooler than the standard 2wd one.. not sure when i changed mine from 2wd to the 4x4 one i had to cut or bend anything though! but thinking about it now.. im sure it was the top mounting holes on the rad were slightly different i just drilled the holes further apart to bolt the intercooler to the top of the rad.. no biggy!

Don't just lop it off, simply cut off the off side tag that the i/cooler and rad bolt together with using the cotton reel mount.
The centre to centre distance between the two holes that the cooler and rad use for the cotton reel need to be 22" apart, simply hacksaw off the tag, and re weld it so the centre to centre(holes) are exactly 22" apart, it then goes straight on and bolts up nicely.

Its already been cut off by the previous owner. The problem I had was the intercooler being too deep. I fitted it this afternoon, and I have had to add washers between the rad mount and chassis legs to drop the rad around half an inch so that the cooler sits on top of the rad. Got there in the end though.
