Has anyone put standard 2wd front 4 pots on the rear and used a spot caliper for handbrake? Just an idea i've got running through my head at the mo woundered if anyone had done it already.

I've seen it once on a 3 door, was funny every time he braked anything more than super gentle the rears locked(abs had been removed), owner took it off after that!!

surely a bias valve would sort that out? how do you get round that as some people run massive rear brakes on some cossies? just after info pro's and con's really.

leave the rears and uprate the fronts,they dont get warm enough to fade now with your driving!!!! miss daisey,lol

IMO I think that it would be a bit overkill to be honest. The fronts should always be more powerful than the rears, so you would have to go HUGE on the front to redress the balance of braking force. The bias valve would send a proportion of braking to one end or the other, but the stopping power the 4 pots have got is going to be enough to lock them up even with a lower split of braking. Bear in mind there's next to no weight in the back of the car compared to the front, and when you do brake the weight will effectively shift forward and exaggerate this in-balance.

At least that's how I see it, but I could be wrong. I'd agree with the above comments and upgrade the fronts. Just going to vented or a slightly larger diameter disc on the rear, would give an increase above the effect of the same upgrade on the front, due to the difference in weight and the transfer effect, if you see what I mean. As said, all IMO.

Iv got Ap 356 6 pots up front and Ap 315 4 pots rear.. Also got a hydraulic handbrake and a Ap racing bias valve.. You can fine tune the bias to suit your setup i think theres 6 or 7 splits.. So there wont be any issues with lock up

Yes of course, you can fine tune it with a bias valve, but then that rather defeats the object imo of spending money on something to make them "better", then not allowing them to do their job by restricting them.
A decent 325mm, or 310 etc on the rear is more than needed in most cases.
Just seems a expensive way of upping the rear braking if needed compared with a lot cheaper alternatives, that will give you as much performance as needed braking wise and be a lot cheaper and easier.
