Default Ford 2007, 2040cd and amp wiring?

Hello all,

Does anyone know what the grey wire with the yellow stripe is for?

Its an RDS2007 & 2040CD Escort Cosworth set up with amp.

Its on the power block so it's not a speaker,

I know that

Red - +
Black - -
Blue - Remote turn on
Orange - Illumination
grey with yellow stripe ?

any ideas anyone?

Thanks...

you need the correct ribbon cable to connect everything together, radio, cd, amp

the plugs for the power are the same as standard connectors for the ford range as are the speakers ones from the amp

Hi dojj
Iv got all the ribbons
So does the 2007 and 2040 get powered off the amp or is it just the speakers that go through the amp and the head units get powered off the standard plugs from the car

The head unit will be powered by the 7 wire plug, there was a splitter that was available in the loom that powered both from one original cable
The ribbon cable connect the 2 units together, from memory there will be either blue or black or yellow or red EB caps on the cables that correspond to the markings on the back of each unit
The Gray wire then for from the head unit to the amp, which will have is own power cable with just 2 wires and then the speaker plug with 8 wires
Both these plugs will be standard flat ford plugs

That plug should be on a cable, the shape of the plug dictates the slot it goes into but on the back of the radio it is colour coded with little dots next to the socket

That blue plug is for the older set with 2028 cd-player and either 2008 or 2007 head unit. The newer and older 2007 have the same face but different back connectors - it that plug doesn't fit anywhere, congrats, you've got a model that's right for the 2040 cd player and silver amp.
Old models had a black amp.

If that plug has no opening for the cable, it could be a cd-delete plug. These radios route their signal through the cd player(or a graphic equalizer), so the delete-plug is just a closed loop inside the plug.

Cable that splits the power from the car loom to both radio and cd looks something like this(in the middle of a rebuild, but you get the picture)
