There's no point really for numerous reasons. Block has nicasil liners so boring is pointless

Taking into consideration everything needed and cost it makes more sense to go ZT. I'm sure it's been done before but with limiting factors.

There are a few around - we featured one with a Van Aaken conversion - but I don't think it was a particularly successful conversion. Would be easier and better to go ZT.

Depends what you're after, you'll never get huge numbers from the engine itself, but there's no reason not to do it.

OC ran 300bhp on a 1.6 comfortably.

You'd need custom everything as I don't think there's any off the shelf manifolds.

With something like a stage 2 T3 I think you could have a very punchy set up.

There was a TZSE on eBay not long back. Can't remember if it had forged internals or not. I suppose running a really low boost application wouldn't cause too many problems but what's the point? I've heard some corsa lads stick diesel turbos on stock engines for minimal improvements at turned down boost. It begs the question why? Unless it's just because they can.

Have a plan, that's the only advice I could give you. I know your doing your conversion on the Fezza so put your 2.0 to one side, strip it to bits, gather parts and when it's ready bang it in.

How's the 2.0 process going btw?

It's been done, but turbo'd 1.7's never seem to last very long for various reasons. You'd be better putting a different block in if you want a turbo puma.

I am looking at doing one in a light weight 3dr sierra
I will make most of the bits , and just keep putting abit more boost in it till I find the limit
I will put some decent internals in it and see how it goes lol

It's got to be worth a go,
Like I said it will have good internals
I will make a plenium and exhaust manifold
Plus it gives me a reason to make a dry sump kit
For it.
It will be on f88rs ecu .
The engines are light to start with so I am on to a winner ( I hope lol) already

My 1.7 se will be up for grabs as soon as the ZTs ready to bolt in.
Love dry sump setups. Got to be better than the dreaded oil pump on the zetec e

Just a guess, but perhaps it's the aluminium construction? Obviously not built with huge strength in mind compared to some ally engines.

In theory they are a disposable engine. Not made to fix really. The nikasil wears fast if not service properly but it's only putting off the inevitable. Shame as they are good engines. Just cheap units for ford to produce! Think ford may have learned the zetecs reliability

I did think , if I have any issues with the construction strength wise then I will just part fill the water ways with concrete , like they do drag cars but not to that ex stream

I'm not sure on the strength issue. A load of high performance cars use full alloy blocks. And to say these engines are made to rev to high heaven for the power must be made strong structure wise! The only thing that would make me think really if I was going to do it, would be those damn liners.
Oh and the vvt.

The liners are there for a purpose it's just they wear after time. If you were to spend big money on building it maybe worth looking into a longer lasting material. Having said that if looked after and serviced they are perfectly fine. But who knows about accelerated wear under boost pressures??

done and done, lms sell a bolt on kit 2k or fitted 3.5k or for the proper setup it's 4.7k plus.

as for manifolds you can use a focus 1.6 manifold and chop it and weld a turbo flange on.

It is possible and has been done. I think the maximum power on stock internals was in region of 230-240 bhp
