you could do a few things,, could just try get hold of standard rs turbo callipers and discs, or can do cosworth front conversion, theres a good "how to" guide at top of this section,

also just found this on eBay, you'd still need to get spacers etc for callipers (all listed in how to guide at top of this section)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sierra-4x4...AAAOSwu-BWQJRP

all depends how far you wanna go i suppose, also some people might say to change to a bigger master cylinder/servo poss from a rs turbo or i think you can use a mk3 mondeo one but requires mods,, loads of info on this site about it though,,

cheers

I THINK a basic rs turbo set up would bolt straight on, but i dont know if base model hubs are same as rs turbo hubs for caliper mounting, if they are the same hubs then should just bolt on,,

The cosworth calipers in ebay link wont just bolt on i dont think, like i said for cosworth calipers the guide at top of page is spot on!

You can also do a 300mm brake upgrade using mondeo calipers etc,, but dont know anything about that, but heeeaps of stuff about it on here,

All hubs are the same. The disc flange is a different shape on early MK3's but everything still fits as it should.

Also, for cossie brakes you need 4x4 callipers (which are the same as Mondeo V6 IIRC) but 2WD discs

A S2 Master and Servo should be fine seeing as both the Cosworth and S2 calipers use a 60mm piston. It's the disc and pads which are larger on the Cosworth items.

FWIW I understand Sierra Cosworth items are the only ones with fit without modifying. I know with mine the clearance was super tight ; I milled 1mm off the disc in the end as they did occasionally catch. They did not drag the car to a stop but the disc did occasionally brush the caliper.

Personally I'd go for the Cosworth setup all day long but I can appreciate it is not as cheap as it once was with disc/pad parts ( and I am not referring to buying cheap Chinese rubbish off eBay either).

If you are on a budget I'd look at the S2 RST setup. They should still be cheap and easy to obtain.

However, what engine do you have?

Depending on the size of your wheels and what they are I'd go 300mm ST/Mondeo setup at eh front and leave the back as they are.

backs are drums etc

was thinking about going st170 but using the st170 discsand calipers theres a fitting kit on line to use the st170 calipers

then its saying iv got to use minimum 16inch alloys

is that right

I have come to the same conclusion .

However, I have to ask why you would choose the Mondeo MkIII calipers over the Sierra items. I agree that they seem a little lighter but to limit your choice of wheels less does seem annoying.

It was probably the main reason I went with the Cossie 4WD items ; almost nothing fits behind the S1 wheels .

Back to the OP AFAIK the ST170 discs fit with the MkIII Mondeo calipers but the hubs require redrilling and rethreading to take the larger bolts. I have not heard of the ST170 calipers fitting before. I understand that with the Mondeo/ST setup some 15" wheels may fit with the caliper being massaged but 16" is the smallest wheel that can generally fit without any issues.

Depends on the wheel, some will fit some will need the caliper grinding down to fit.

I don't know how small these standard brakes are but in my opinion you only need to upgrade brakes if you get faiding, have to give lots off pressure before lock up or can't lock up. I have upgraded to cosworth for myself aswell, but nowadays i wouldn't have done it again. Useless upgrade. Its my road car, it didn't faid, was able to luck up and pedal feel was ok. Putting that money in better tyres would have increased brake performance probably more
