Default fueling issue...options?

So i have been having issues with my s2. Set the base idle co and take for a drive and the co level has changed and it runs bad. Drives fine when moving but as soon as you stop it doesnt idle great and hunts. Got loads of new genuine ford parts and been to a few places. Went to Power Engineering and they said it sounds like a wire issue so the loom was changed with brand new plugs...still the same. Anyone ever had this issue?

I have had enough so possibly looking to go EFI? Would that sort the problem? Or shall I just go Zetec turbo and start over? Not looking for major power and 200bhp would do me for now.

So I wanted to know my options

Your name suggests you have a zetec engine? Or are you running CVH?

Which places have you been? Tuners or garages? I would suggest tuners

I would suggest disconnect cold start injector
check if the aux air device is open or closed with your bad and good idle

No cvh. My names not relevant any more.

Went to power engineering and jano. Powers said wire issue and jano said metering unit.

And you got a new metering unit and let somebody set it up for you? You know you can't set fuelling yourself? Or are these known things for you?

Yea I could use a co machine. Got a metering unit off a guy on here in "working order" but the flap is stiff. Got another so could try that and take it back to Jano. Just getting disheartened now with all the different suggestions

A CO machine is not enough mate. Installing another metering unit can make the car run lean (which can cause engine damage quickly) you should have it checked with a wideband sensor and if knowledge lacks by a tuner as well. Don't even drive it there with a meteringunit that isn't set up.

If I remember well Jano is a good tuner. These ppl will also tell you if its not worth anymore to investigate this problem.

I think with switching to EFI you will sort the problem as well, but it will also cost quiet some time and money. Difficult choice

I cant remember which car we are talking about pal, but if my diagnosis was metering unit then no doubt it will be.

No offence but your first statement about PE saying its wiring issue, from what you described sounds very strange? If its in tune and working then slowly goes out of sync how would wiring be a cause of this?

If the AUX bypass is working as is the sensors to control cold start and fuel enrichment etc etc all gets the correct readings then the easy option would be to swap the metering unit with a known tested working item. From the likes of my customers that have done a conversion to weber and selling their stuff on here or other places, you can then get a true insight in what order it really is. If its been to me 10 times a year to get tuned then you would stay clear. If on the other hand I have seen it a couple of times and its still in tune and done X amount of miles that would be the metering unit to buy. I personally have bought these off my customers to use to fix others. Its the best way I can think of buying a decent one. Every one will say the one they are selling is good but how do they actually know.

Hope that helps a little.
Regards
Jano

Yea cheers.

Thats it, everyone says that have a working one. You said to come down and your fit a metering unit and set up, that still an option? Just dont want to try that and not work and be out of pocket sort of thing you know.

Cheers
