get the turbo then have it mapped on the ofam, if you have it mapped now then change the turbo the mapping will need changing again, so no point paying for mapping twice.

Will it run ok still if I swap it? Or do you think I should get another made up and put it on just before I get rick to map it?

If you fit a bigger turbo it will need mapping so you really need to do both IMO.

Fitting a bigger turbo will flow more air into the engine, requiring more fuel to match. Esp on boost. I would get the OFAM ecu as you can map it yourself and then put the turbo on at a later date.
What is your engine spec as i fitted a stage 3 t3 to mine and ideally i'd like something with less lag for exiting corners etc.

Engine spec is forged pistons
Steel rods
Lightened and balanced bottom end
Stage 2 t3
Think heads been done if I remember rightly
At mo it's on ofab with 195 chip but I have the ofam ecu in box at home
Running beige injectors but have Siemens deka 60lb injectors sat in there packets still
Full front mount
Group a cone filter with t3 flange
4 Paddle clutch
Full exhaust system
Up rated pump
-31 actuator

I would- Get the new ecu on it, after putting a wideband O2 gauge in it. Have a play with the map yourself, using advice/guides online. Then once comfortable with the map, get the bigger turbo, tweak the map to suit then take it to Karlos or Rob to get the map looked over.

I think I'm going to go down that road mate. Where are karlos and rob based? I was looking at it last night n looks complicated but I'm sure I can learn basics. Can always get a map done any day

A few people are using the 4wd T3. It uses a 60 trim compressor instead of the 55 trim used on the 2wd T3.
Not a whole lot of difference between the two.

So if I can find a 2wd t3 or a 4wd get one?
What the difference in escort t3 and cosworth t3? What power wise would a standard cosworth t3 compared to escort t3 stage1/2/3?
